Transmogration !

On New Year’s Eve, I posted about transformation in us through faith in Jesus. It made me think of this post from 2021 on Transmogration! which I think is timely for the year ahead as I sense the stirring of the Holy Spirit on the subject of Transformation. If you are intrigued by Transmogration then read on..

Wow, what a mouthful of a word. It comes from the word “Transmogrify” or ”Transmogrified”.

I had never heard of this word “Transmogration” until I heard it spoken to me in a dream that the Lord gave me last week. I should explain that this word I heard in my dream is not the full expression of the word the Lord was highlighting to me. He was having some fun with me as I will explain below. The Lord knows I love puzzles so he gives me some clues to test me 🤣. He knows I enjoys it when I get the “ aha” moment of revelation.

So on the night I had this dream, the Lord spoke the word “Transmogration” to me. I repeated it several times to myself and understood in my sleep that this word was important and I needed to remember it on waking as it was a word I did not know or had heard before.

When I woke up I looked up this word in the dictionary and it fully is “Transmogrification”. It comes from the word “Transmogrify” which means “to change or change completely so the shape and form of something after this process is radically changed.”

Isn’t that just an incredible word which describes what happens when we encounter Jesus Christ and our life in Christ. We change completely.

The best illustration of this in nature is the process of a caterpillar turning into a butterfly. It’s shape and form are completely changed into something new.

The word also speaks of a “surprising or supernatural change”. A reminder that it is the supernatural power of God in our lives by the power and ongoing work of the Holy Spirit. Not a change we can bring about by our own efforts. It is only God.

As the word spoken to me was the action verb then I believe God is saying we “as the church” the form of “church” His people” are currently in the process of changing shape and being radically transformed. That’s exciting. I’m sure many of us have experienced or are experiencing these changes so be encouraged.

The interesting thing is that the word I heard was “Transmogration” and the actual word is “Transmogrification”.

The missing letters “If I C” are the Lord getting my attention.

As I said before, I believe the Lord loves a pun with me and he was drawing this specifically to my attention. He made me and knows the way my mind works. He was reminding me that He is the one that will radically change things but only if I will allow him to do the process and see (C) what he is doing. Completely submitted to Him and obedient to His leading.

What is the Lord in the process of changing in your life and church at the moment? I’d love to hear. Are you seeing signs of transformation. I pray that you and I will see as God wants us to see so that we can come into alignment with His plans, His Purposes and His will for the year ahead.

Blessings to you this day.

Being transformed
Transformed and ready to fly

  1. I had heard of that word, although I couldn’t have told you what it meant!

I just remember it sounded pretty cool!

Much change here, and we desire an awful lot more through 2023 – we actually do welcome change as a family. You embrace it it embraces you…

  2. What an appropriate post Nicola; at this early stage of 2023 I am becoming aware that things are going to be different in my relationship with Him in some respects. All that is happening is only possible by His presence, provision and power…hallelujah sister!
