Faith and Serving…

Then you shall again discern between the righteous and the wicked, between one who serves God And one who does not serve Him.”
‭‭Malachi‬ ‭3‬:‭18‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

This was a verse that the Lord laid on my heart recently and one that really hit home to my heart.

There are many who profess faith in Jesus but is that faith leading into service of Jesus.

Service of Jesus will lead us into serving others.

Are we serving Jesus and others.

Faith should express itself in obedience and service of Jesus.

When we give our lives to Jesus it’s more than accepting and believing that Jesus died for us, redeemed us and gave us eternal life.

It’s the start of a new life living by Jesus’ teachings.

It’s an invitation into a new life of serving King Jesus and being obedient to His commands.

If we are not teaching this truth and evangelising people into faith with no discipleship then we are not preaching the whole gospel of Jesus and the Kingdom of God.

Before Jesus went to the Cross, He demonstrated this expectation of serving others to His own disciples.

Jesus knelt and washed the feet of His disciples. This was shocking, the master serving his followers. It was not something done. It was one of the most menial and unpleasant tasks

So when He had washed their feet, taken His garments, and sat down again, He said to them, “Do you know what I have done to you? You call Me Teacher and Lord, and you say well, for so I am. If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. For I have given you an example, that you should do as I have done to you. Most assuredly, I say to you, a servant is not greater than his master; nor is he who is sent greater than he who sent him. If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them.”
‭‭John‬ ‭13‬:‭12‬-‭17‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

It’s good to reflect in our journey of faith and ask ourselves how am I serving Jesus my Lord and Master..

Sometimes we have lost our way in service that service has become more about self-serving and comfort.

What and how is the Lord calling you to serve today?

Take heart and respond. The Lord will not call you to serve and not equip you to serve.

Starting small can often be the stepping stone..there are many ways we can serve Jesus today.

Do you know a brother or sister in Christ who needs some help discovering how to serve Jesus and others. Invite them and make room for them to serve too.

People can sometimes think that there is no room for them so let’s notice them and make room even if it means leaving something we have served in for years..perhaps our season is done and there is something new, a new area of service.

Let us not be service blockers but service enablers.
