Asa called out to the Lord his God, saying, “O Lord, there is no one besides You to help in the battle between the powerful and the weak; so help us, O Lord our God, for we trust in and rely on You, and in Your name we have come against this multitude. O Lord, You are our God; let not man prevail against You.”
2Chronicles 14.11
In these days it can feel that there is no social justice.
There are the powerful and the weak..the age old story.
Those with the deepest pockets (the financial strength) and the loudest voices (influence) overwhelm the weak and win the day.
The perceived weak in society can be manipulated and bullied into doing their will because the consequences of disagreeing will be terrible and terrifying.
Fear of financial poverty, social isolation and labelling of being an “ist”.
Bullying is rampant on every level.
But….there is One in our corner whose mission is for righteousness and truth to be established.
He is a voice for the weak and marginalised and the One with the power to change situations.
Prayer changes things..cry out to the Lord for help just as Asa cried out when facing an innumerable army.
God gives power to the weak.
God gives us His Wisdom to confound arguments.
God gives us hope.
God gives us strength.
God has given us His Spirit…the same Spirit that raised Christ Jesus from the dead lives in us.
Our help, true help, comes from the Lord.
“The Lord is my strength and my shield; My heart trusted in Him, and I am helped; Therefore my heart greatly rejoices, And with my song I will praise Him.”
Psalms 28:7 NKJV
It’s not an even handed fight really because Jesus has already won.
Advent reminds us of the coming of God’s Kingdom through Jesus Christ the only One who could help us.
He is our salvation and the coming King.
His hand is not too short to save and it is reaching out to you today.
Take that hand..
