“And it was told to the house of David, saying, “Syria’s forces are deployed in Ephraim.” So his heart and the heart of his people were moved as the trees of the woods are moved with the wind.”
Isaiah 7:2 NKJV
At some time or other there is bad news that comes knocking at our door or we hear a whisper a rumour of its coming.
I don’t know what is worse..the anticipation of bad news or the delivery of the bad news.
At the news of the enemy camped on their doorstep, the King and the people’s hearts were troubled.
They were rocked.
These were a people who had history with God, they had been brought out of Egypt by His power, the King came from the line of David, that mighty warrior King and had heard stories of God’s power, His goodness but bad news still shook them.
Where was God now?
Yet that bad news was not the final outcome.
God had different news for them.
He gave them a promise.
He gave them hope.
He gave them confidence.
He gave them a different future.
“thus says the Lord God: “It shall not stand, Nor shall it come to pass.”
Isaiah 7:7 NKJV
When bad news comes, which it invariably does, take it to the Lord God in prayer.
What does God say about that news.
What promises does God bring back to your heart.
God’s Word is a firm foundation of truth not rumours or false promises.
What does God say about your bad news today.
He offers hope.
He offers an arm that is not too short to save in any circumstance.
He is the fourth man in the fire.
He gives us an eternal perspective.
He provides whatever we need in our time of doubting when our hearts may fail from fear.
His grace and mercy..may we never forget them.
His strength and power..may we never forget them.
The son Jesus who intercedes for us before the throne of heaven..may we never forget who is in our corner.
You are not alone when bad news comes. God is still right there with you.
