“Consider this carefully, for the Lord has chosen you to build a house for the sanctuary. Be courageous and strong and do it.” 1Chronicles 28.10& AMP
These are encouraging yet challenging words from a Father (David) to his son (Solomon).
Solomon was young and inexperienced and about to undertake something never done before. It was a huge task.
David recognised and humbly accepted that he was not chosen by God to build His house but it was his son Solomon who God had chosen for the task.
David didn’t just accept God’s choice and leave it at that but he actively chose to support and ensure that his son Solomon was provided with the necessary resources and skilled people and also a plan for the work to be done so that Solomon would be enabled.
David didn’t leave Solomon with no resources or guidance because he (David) was not the chosen one. David chose to actively, and at personal cost to him, to prepare ahead to give Solomon the best possible foundation to build on.
We spiritual mothers and fathers of our generation need to prayerfully discern who God has chosen for certain works of service in these days and times. Some of which may break new frontiers.
We must guard against any feelings of resentment, disappointment, frustration or jealousy if we are not the chosen ones for certain works of service and which could cause us to hinder those who have been chosen by God.
David had a desire to build the temple but even though he identified the work didn’t mean he was chosen for it.
We also need to be wise and even if we may have identified or have a burden for an area of ministry/service it may still not be for us to do..the Lord could be calling someone else to build and we are chosen for the works of preparation or support.
Let us encourage each other and work together to ensure that those who are chosen by God and their generation are set up for success in the Lord having benefitted from the preparations for the service of the Lord that we have done.
We can help prepare through bible study, discipleship, fellowship, prayer, finance and accountable relationships demonstrating in love that we are making room for them and their spiritual giftings and ministries in the Lord.
Encouraging them to be courageous and to go for it….to just do it.
We will be there cheering them on to do the good works that the Lord has prepared for them to do.
