Then…

Morning friends, I don’t normally do a re-post at the weekend but this word “Then” keeps coming to mind.

Then is such a little word but it is can be so powerful. It’s a word which speaks of change.

There is a before and THEN something happens which changes the story.

In Genesis, we read the story of Noah.

The flood has come upon the earth and Noah, his family and the animals are in the ark. They obeyed God’s exact instructions and went into the Ark and then God shut the door.

“So those that entered, male and female of all flesh, went in as God had commanded him; and the Lord shut him in.” Genesis 7:16 NKJV

It was after obedience that the THEN came and God shut the door.

Sometimes, we are waiting for God to act and the THEN to happen but we maybe haven’t done our part to enable the THEN.

It may be that something at our end needs to change.

Is there something God has asked us to do to enable the Then.

There is an often quoted portion of scripture which contains one of the most powerful THENs in the bible.

If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
2 Chronicles 7:14 NKJV

First step is humble obedience to God. Jesus’s example of not my will but yours be done.

Second step is prayer.

Third step is relational and trusting in God to lead us.

Fourth step is repentance…turning around from our ways to God’s ways.

Is there something we have not obeyed God in which is delaying the Then.

Bless you my friends.

A really good post Nicola. Just this morning was reading Joshua 3 where the people are to cross the Jordan and the priests are to step into the waters carrying the ark. And only then the waters would stop flowing. Obedience was needed first and only THEN the waters would stop.

I am so glad you reposted this Nicola…I don’t remember reading it, but then this time it was a blessing indeed! Aren’t the small words of Scripture so powerful? One of my favourites is “only believe” which our Lord said to Jairus. God bless you and your family on this Lord’s day Nicola 🙏

Thanks Alan. Isn’t it wonderful that God brings these things to our remembrance. 😊
