I’d like to introduce you to my friend.
He’s pretty special and there’s a bit of me that would like to keep him all to myself..but that would be selfish…not like my friend at all. He’s extremely generous and kind and not at all selfish. I think that quality has been rubbing off on me..I hope so.
I know that some of you reading, already know him too which is great. We have a friend in common, but I know there’s some of you out there who haven’t met him yet..so with that in mind, may I introduce you to my friend.
I’m pretty sure you will like him too when you get to know him. I mean who wouldn’t? He has all the qualities that we all want in a friend.
First off, he’s so kind, loyal, trustworthy and reliable. Always willing to give me time with a listening ear. In all the years I’ve known him not once has he been too busy for me. He really means it when he says that I can call on him anytime and anywhere. He’s so reliable.
My friend doesn’t gossip about me either or shame me in front of anyone. I’ve messed up some big things in my life. There’s stuff I’m ashamed of but I know if I share things with my friend that he understands and gets it straight away. Sometimes, he knows what I’m feeling before I even utter a word. He just gets me. It’s so reassuring. He doesn’t condemn me. He helps me be a better person.
My friend gives me great advice too. He just knows things. He always seems to have the right answer to my problems. He helps me to get things in perspective and understand things and see the other side of situations too. I’d honestly be blind to some things which are so obvious if he didn’t point it out to me. He helps me see things more clearly. To see better. I know he always wants the best for me and others so I trust his advice.
Don’t get me wrong. My friend is no pushover. My friend will always tell me the truth. Sometimes I don’t want to hear it, but he’s not in the business of just telling me what I want to hear. He doesn’t cover up things or tell me a load of rubbish just to make me feel better. No, he tells me what I need to hear. It keeps me healthy and grounded. He challenges my bad behaviour but does it in the best way. He is gentle and compassionate but also firm when needed.
He understands my weaknesses and my faults but he also wants me to be the best version of myself. To reflect him. He’s a great example to me.
Did I mention my friend’s name yet….the very best friend and life companion that anyone could want.
I didn’t..how remiss of me.
Let me introduce you to Jesus.
The best friend you could ever have.
“Now there were certain Greeks among those who came up to worship at the feast. Then they came to Philip, who was from Bethsaida of Galilee, and asked him, saying, “Sir, we wish to see Jesus.” John 12:20
This post was inspired by our preacher today Gerard Kelly and his message…people just want to meet Jesus.
Let’s make the introduction.
