Iβd like to introduce you to my friend.
Heβs pretty special and thereβs a bit of me that would like to keep him all to myself..but that would be selfishβ¦not like my friend at all. Heβs extremely generous and kind and not at all selfish. I think that quality has been rubbing off on me..I hope so.
I know that some of you reading, already know him too which is great. We have a friend in common, but I know thereβs some of you out there who havenβt met him yet..so with that in mind, may I introduce you to my friend.
Iβm pretty sure you will like him too when you get to know him. I mean who wouldnβt? He has all the qualities that we all want in a friend.
First off, heβs so kind, loyal, trustworthy and reliable. Always willing to give me time with a listening ear. In all the years Iβve known him not once has he been too busy for me. He really means it when he says that I can call on him anytime and anywhere. Heβs so reliable.
My friend doesnβt gossip about me either or shame me in front of anyone. Iβve messed up some big things in my life. Thereβs stuff Iβm ashamed of but I know if I share things with my friend that he understands and gets it straight away. Sometimes, he knows what Iβm feeling before I even utter a word. He just gets me. Itβs so reassuring. He doesnβt condemn me. He helps me be a better person.
My friend gives me great advice too. He just knows things. He always seems to have the right answer to my problems. He helps me to get things in perspective and understand things and see the other side of situations too. Iβd honestly be blind to some things which are so obvious if he didnβt point it out to me. He helps me see things more clearly. To see better. I know he always wants the best for me and others so I trust his advice.
Donβt get me wrong. My friend is no pushover. My friend will always tell me the truth. Sometimes I donβt want to hear it, but heβs not in the business of just telling me what I want to hear. He doesnβt cover up things or tell me a load of rubbish just to make me feel better. No, he tells me what I need to hear. It keeps me healthy and grounded. He challenges my bad behaviour but does it in the best way. He is gentle and compassionate but also firm when needed.
He understands my weaknesses and my faults but he also wants me to be the best version of myself. To reflect him. Heβs a great example to me.
Did I mention my friendβs name yetβ¦.the very best friend and life companion that anyone could want.
I didnβt..how remiss of me.
Let me introduce you to Jesus.
The best friend you could ever have.
βNow there were certain Greeks among those who came up to worship at the feast. Then they came to Philip, who was from Bethsaida of Galilee, and asked him, saying, βSir, we wish to see Jesus.β John 12:20
This post was inspired by our preacher today Gerard Kelly and his messageβ¦people just want to meet Jesus.
Letβs make the introduction.
