Rise again

For a righteous man may fall seven times And rise again, But the wicked shall fall by calamity. Proverbs 24:16

My friend shared tonight how they have felt spiritually dry the last months or so. The isolation from Covid, difficult circumstances and various knock backs had taken their toll. They felt down and discouraged.

As they prayed they felt the Lord draw their attention to their daily devotional, The Word for Today. They opened it up and this was the reading which spoke straight into their heart.

The Lord was encouraging them that they will rise again. Although my friend is down, they are not defeated and they will rise again.

Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the Lord, The Creator of the ends of the earth, Neither faints nor is weary. His understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the weak, And to those who have no might He increases strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, And the young men shall utterly fall, But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.”
Isaiah 40:28-31

My friend is not a young man. He is in his mid-eighties but his desire to rise again is still there. You too may have been knocked down but you are not out for the count. You will rise again. It’s time to Rise Up.

Thanks so much for this encouraging word. We all get knocked down by life and its trials, but as you say, we must dust ourselves off and keep on keeping on. Thank God for the strength he provides. And bless you today

I must confess I have plenty experience of life pushing me down, particularly now with the whole family in isolation. But in this I refuse to stay down, I lift everything to Father God as an opportunity to serve Him more and more, knowing He can do great things with my weakness. Your beloved brother in Christ is a true encouragement, standing tall in God’s Word! Thank you for sharing this Nicola, God bless you sister,

Amen. Being down isn’t inherently bad, especially when life issues keep knocking us down.

However, we do need to keep looking up, and remember the hope that we read of in Romans 5 – a hope which does not disappoint!

Yes absolutely Andy. In my friends case it was the desire to get back up again which was key and the encouragement from the Lord.
