Hi all, my friend, Heather sent me these encouraging words today which I want to share with you too. I hope you are blessed.
I awoke this morning with 2 scriptures which came to my mind quite clearly. The first one was 1 Corinthians 2 verse 9:
“No eye has seen, no ear heard or no mind can conceive what the Lord has prepared for those who love Him”
The second scripture was Psalm 34 v 8:
“ Come taste and see that the Lord is good”
I believe the Lord wants us to come so much deeper in. We are not to be just spectators looking in at the window of some great mansion or palace and wondering what it would be like to live there. God wants us to come in and take our place at the table set for us with our name on. There is a place for each one of us.
I was then prompted to read Numbers 13. These verses speak about the land flowing with milk and honey which God had promised His people, the Israelites (“the Promised Land”). And they didn’t want to go in there!!
Why I asked of the Lord. Why didn’t they go in and take what you had promised was theirs. The Lord said that apart from the fear, (there were big giants who lived there) there was an attitude of “I don’t need or even deserve this goodness” in the people. Even worse there was “I’m ok where I am” and “I’ll just settle for things as they are”.
In Numbers chapter 14 v 11 we read that the Lord is grieved or even offended by these thoughts.
If you or I had beautiful gifts to give someone and they were rejected. Would we also not feel hurt?
The Lord was showing the people a land flowing with milk and honey ( all good things) which was there for them to possess. God is saying the same to us. We do have to go in and take possession of it ( Numbers 13 v 30).
Let’s not be afraid or disheartened or settle for less than God has for us and wants to give us. Let us not grieve the Lord by not receiving what He has for us. Let us press in to take possession of all that God wants to give us.
We will have battles to overcome but the Lord promised He is with us.
Blessings in Jesus name x
