Keep the home fires burning 🔥

Today we were encouraged to guard against apathy and allowing our love for Jesus to grow cold. As believers, we can be vulnerable to this at the moment because of not being able to meet together as easily (or at all for some people) because of the COVID restrictions. We can become discouraged by the lawlessness and wickedness we see around us, by false prophecies and words.

Let us watch out for each other and not become isolated and allow our fire to diminish but let us keep the bonds of love, encouraging each other with Palms, hymns, spiritual songs, teachings, words etc, and above all keep the fire burning within each one of us for Christ Jesus. Lord, I ask that you please breathe on the embers today and fan the flames into fire again.

“Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.”
Hebrews 10:23-25

“Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Romans 12:10-12

Believers are trying to come together in different ways at the present time whether it is over zoom, WhatsApp, FaceTime, teams, this platform or other ways to stay connected with each other. It is not easy and some may find it difficult but let’s not give up. We can reach out to each other in different ways. Where two or three are gathered together Christ is in the midst of us. Praise God. We are Christ’s body and connected to each other in and through Christ who is the head of us all.

I pray for those who may be feeling isolated or disconnected at the moment that you will know that you are still connected and to draw near to Him and He will draw near to you. If the Holy Spirit is convicting hearts of apathy or a lack of fire and zeal then I pray that repentance will come to our hearts and we will stir ourselves up and put our hands to the plough at this time. It is not wise for us to sit back and do nothing in these days.

The Lord is all sufficient for us in these present days. His grace is more than sufficient for us. The Lord is encouraging us to come to His table and eat and drink of His provision and not to leave the table until we are satisfied. When we eat our meals we know when we are full and the Lord wants us to know that same feeling of fullness in and through His Holy Spirit. He is a God of abundance. Let us fill ourselves up in Him. The Lord does not want us to be satisfied with crumbs but to come and feast at His table. We can also help feed each other out of the abundance that God gives to us.

When restrictions start lifting let us not to get distracted by the things which do not truly satisfy us. The Lord says “Why do you spend money for what is not bread, And your wages for what does not satisfy? Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good, And let your soul delight itself in abundance.” Isaiah 55:2

May we use this time of confinement wisely and redeem the days God has blessed us with. May God refine us in His Holy Fire so that we are ready to do His will.

Let us keep the home fires burning 🔥

Atrophy

I had this word at the beginning of 2020 and having read it again, I sense that it was a warning about this season that we are now in with the restrictions that COVID 19 has put on us.

We are in danger of atrophy setting in so need to keep spiritually active especially in ways we can encourage each others as believers in Christ to keep reading our bibles, fellowshipping in different ways..who would have thought we would have prayer and small group meetings over zoom or WhatsApp.

Perhaps it’s time for a fresh spiritual MOT to make sure atrophy has not set in.

This was the word which I heard in the Spirit today as we were praying together for the body of Christ.

Atrophy means the partial or complete wasting away of part of a physical body.

A sense of shrinking and weakness in body mass and muscle tone.   An entire limb can become atrophied and withered and incapable of movement.

There are several things which can cause Atrophy in a body but these ones caught my attention:

  1. Disuse/Lack of Exercise -When muscles are not used or you are immobile for long periods of time then Atrophy can set in.    We are called into active service in Christ Jesus and to pick up our cross and follow Him.   We are called to give and serve others, to exercise the giftings which God gives us through the Holy Spirit.   To serve others and be a blessing to them.   To show God’s love in action.   There are plenty of opportunities to serve within the body of Christ and the communities we live in.   If we are not using and exercising the talents & gifts which God has given us then they will wither.   We are called to be a voice crying in the wilderness “Prepare the way of the Lord”.   We are called to be light in the darkness.  God is rallying his church and the trumpet is sounding – wake up and start to work for the Lord because the day is short.   The good news is that this sort of Atrophy can be cured by exercise unless it is too severe.   It is never too late to start working for the Lord – He will always make a way.  Trust in the Lord and do good.
  2. Poor Nourishment – if we do not feed our physical bodies properly then they will suffer.  Muscles will lose mass and our bodies will start to shut down if no nourishment is given.   Similarly, the body of Christ will suffer if it is not feeding on the Word of God and in fellowship with Christ – the bread of life.    The challenge is -What are we feeding on?  If we feed on worldly rubbish or false teachings and doctrines then we will suffer.    We need a diet of God’s word and His truths.
  3. Mutations -these are things that should not be part of the body and they cause damage – they attack it from within.  In a spiritual sense I believe that Atrophy in the body of Christ is caused by sinful, immoral & selfish behaviour – there is no fruit of the Spirit.   It is like a disease which spreads from within.  The bible teaches us how a root of bitterness is such a thing – it causes much damage to others.   Jealousy, gossip, unforgiveness and such things should not be within the body of Christ.   Wolves in sheep’s clothing do not belong in the body of Christ and will certainly cause damage.  The bible warns us against them and their works.  Jesus says we will know them by their fruits.
  4. Poor Circulation – If we do not have the living Christ, the life & power of the Holy Spirit and God’s love flowing through us then we will have poor circulation.  If we are not in unity with one another then there will be a blockage in God’s love and blessings being manifested throughout the body of Christ.   Those parts of the body which are not flowing in the Spirit of God will not prosper – their growth will be stunted.   We need to connect into God’s amazing power and for the life giving blood of Jesus to pump through us.

I pray that the body of Christ will not suffer Atrophy but will be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.

That we will put off lethargy and sin which can so easily ensnare us and will rise in service of the King of Kings & Lord of Lords.

That we will put our hands to the plough and not look back and we will run the race of faith with patience and endurance.

Let us not be weary in doing good for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart – Galatians 6:9.

Let us rise up like the Eagle and run and not faint.

Let us leap for Joy in service of our King.

Blessings in Jesus. Amen 🙏

Beware of a false peace

God reminded me today of this picture and word he gave me many months ago and so I am reposting it today. The current Covid 19 situation came to mind. Is this a warning from God not to think all is over or getting better but to remain vigilant and keep our eyes on Him. Are we in a time of a false peace and need to prepare for the rest of the storm to pass over.

Perfect peace is found in God and not in our circumstances or situation which is changeable.  Today as I was worshipping God,  I saw a picture of a big storm, a hurricane.  As the hurricane passed over there was “peace” at the eye of the storm.  However,  people know from experience that this peace is a “false peace” because the rest of the storm is still to pass over.   In whatever our circumstances, we could be deceived into thinking a temporary lull is the answer to our prayers and relax.   We may not then be prepared for the rest of the storm.   I sense God is warning us not to be deceived by a false peace but to remain watchful and seek Him.  To fix our eyes on Him.  To continue to pray and intercede as the Holy Spirit leads us.  Seek Him in all situations for Godly wisdom and discernment so that we continue to press in and do not relax our prayers.   Keep pressing in.
