Our grass this year has been brown and dried from the drought to the point people were talking of artificial grass!!
Yes it looked nothing like our green and pleasant land but artificial grass! Never it can’t be the lungs and breath of our countryside if it’s artificial. It might be forever green but it’s just an illusion.
After just a couple of days of rain I started to notice on my daily dog walks how quickly the brown grass was turning green.
Grass is really resilient. It might look dead but just a few days of sweet rain refreshed and restored it and it started to grow again.
I have a new found respect for grass. It’s a wonder of nature and creation.
What the rain did for the grass, the Holy Spirit does in and through us.
What looks dead to the outside world can be restored and refreshed by the sweet presence and water that only Jesus can give us. We too like the grass can start to produce our green shoots of new life and fruit.
Jesus is the water of life to our spirits. He is the very essence of life in us. Breathe on us breath of life and come rain on us again by your Spirit Lord Jesus.
“The flowers appear on the earth; The time of singing has come, And the voice of the turtledove Is heard in our land. The fig tree puts forth her green figs, And the vines with the tender grapes Give a good smell. Rise up, my love, my fair one, And come away!”
Song of Solomon 2:12-13 NKJV
