God is just as present in the darkness as in the light.
“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”
John 1:5 NIV
The light of Christ Jesus, the true light, shines in the darkness and illuminates our way. The light of truth and grace to comfort us and give us true hope, illuminating our way, piercing and dispelling the dark places, the dark thoughts that try to hold us captive.
The darkness will not overcome the light but rather the light will continue to shine.
In the dark times let our light continue to shine by continuing to serve God, serve the family of believers and serve strangers. The darkness tries to stifle us and smother us, render us inactive and weak but every act of service to God, whether small or big, is a ray of light piercing the darkness.
“If you do away with the yoke of oppression, with the pointing finger and malicious talk, and if you spend yourselves in behalf of the hungry and satisfy the needs of the oppressed, then your light will rise in the darkness, and your night will become like the noonday.”
Isaiah 58:9-10 NIV
