Sanctified in truth..

As we followed Jesus’ journey to the Cross last week, the prayers of Jesus for His disciples really encouraged me.

Jesus prayed to His Father that his disciples would be sanctified by God’s truth, by God’s Word which is truth.

That became my prayer..Father God sanctify me, sanctify my family, sanctify my fellowship by your truth, your Word which is truth.

Just as the disciples, we are in this world but not of this world.

Truth is so corrupted by the world but because of Jesus we are and can be sanctified by the truth.

I was so encouraged by these verses because it often feels like the lies of the enemy are overwhelming and corrupting everything around us and destroying society but as disciples of Jesus we are sanctified in truth.

“I do not pray that You should take them out of the world, but that You should keep them from the evil one. They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth. As You sent Me into the world, I also have sent them into the world. And for their sakes I sanctify Myself, that they also may be sanctified by the truth.”
‭‭John‬ ‭17‬:‭15‬-‭19‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Sanctification means being set aside for God’s holy purposes.

Jesus was set aside for God’s holy purposes and fulfilled His purpose by being obedient to death.

These verses are powerful.

We are set aside as disciples of Jesus for God’s purposes.

If I am not in God’s Word, sanctified by God’s Word and truth then I will not be continually shaped by the Word and fully equipped for God’s purposes.

Jesus is the living Word and the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Truth lives in us.

I am so encouraged that Jesus prayed that the disciples would be set apart for their holy calling in the truth of God’s Word.

We desperately need the truth of God’s Word in these days.

The disciples could not be sent out without being sanctified in truth.

We won’t be effective in our going without being sanctified in truth.

Sanctify us by your truth God.

Sanctify us by your Word.

Send us out as people sanctified by your truth.

Amen

    Nicola, this dream I had back in 2024 goes along with your posting.

    Truth Has Fallen
    Isaiah 59:14-15 (NKJV)

    14 Justice is turned back,
    And righteousness stands afar off;
    For truth is fallen in the street,
    And equity cannot enter.
    15 So truth fails,
    And he who departs from evil makes himself a prey.
    The Redeemer of Zion
    Then the LORD saw it, and it displeased Him
    That there was no justice.

    I had a dream/ night vision March 19, 2024 where I saw a belt laying the street. The belt I saw in the dream had a name……Truth…… the belt looked as though an individual had allowed it to slip off as it was still buckled. whether this was done carelessly or purposefully wasnt disclosed in the dream. I then saw evil people kicking the belt around as one would kick a ball. However, there was a reason why those kicking around the ball were doing so which I will now detail.

    In Ephesians 6 it commands the believer to armor up.

    Ephesians 6:13-18 (NKJV)

    13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
    14 Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; 18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints—

    In my dream I saw an individual with all the armor except the belt of truth which, according to the aforementioned passage of scripture, is the first piece of the armor one is to put on and is necessary for the other pieces to function. Imagine being armored up but not having on a belt. Now further imagine chasing after the belt, “of truth”, being kicked around to keep it away from the individual in pursuit of it all the while trying to hold onto the other parts of the armor and hold onto one’s pants. The other parts of the armor cannot function properly without first, ” gilding your loins”, with the belt of truth. There is an order in putting on the armor and must be done every day. The belt of God’s truth and the knowledge of God’s Word through careful study is to be the center of one’s being. Knowledge of the truth gives instruction as to the use of the other pieces. Next comes the breastplate of righteousness which guards your heart. Next comes your feet to be shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace. Next comes the shield of faith whereby the firey darts of the devil are quenched. Then comes the helmet of salvation that protects the mind. Last but not least is the sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God and the only offensive weapon at the Christian’s disposal
