Fasting into action..#Lent2026

“Yesterday I posted on the theme Seeing but not Seeing..Seeing with purpose which leads us to express our faith in action.

Our fasting to the Lord can also lead us into action.

Is this not the fast that I have chosen: To loose the bonds of wickedness, To undo the heavy burdens, To let the oppressed go free, And that you break every yoke?”

Is it not to share your bread with the hungry, And that you bring to your house the poor who are cast out; When you see the naked, that you cover him, And not hide yourself from your own flesh?

Isaiah 58:6-7

These are actions that please God and outwork God’s love in and through us, treating people fairly, speaking up for justice, showing compassion and concern for the weak and marginalised, those who are poor, the homeless, the displaced.

In this season of Lent as we meditate on the love in action of Jesus, what is the Lord calling each one of us to do in service of him.

Even a small act of showing concern for others today can be the little ripple in the pond that will spread and spread.

Let the fast that we choose today be one inspired by these verses in Isaiah.

Fasting always leads to personal change and forward movement. At least it should.
