This was a word that I was pondering today.. Indecision.
I was reminded of a story about our front door.
A couple of years ago we needed to replace our front door.
The door was the original door from when the house was built in the 1960s.
It was solid wood, partly glazed with a simple Yale lock.
Over the years it had been painted and repainted.
When we moved into the house in the late 90s we painted it dark blue and then later dark green.
Anyway, you would think that choosing a new front door would be a simple thing for my husband and I but no…so many decisions to make, what material..wood, composite…which type of lock, glazed..fully or partly.
We decided on all those things then came the great moment of indecision…which colour.
The new composite door could be made in virtually every colour of the rainbow.
There was too much choice.
We were confused.
We narrowed it down to two colours but we could not make a final decision between the two.
The new door was expensive so we wanted to get it right otherwise it would be an expensive mistake.
Imagine my surprise then when the door manufacturer called me a month or so after our initial enquiry to tell me our door was ready and when could they install it!
What door I said…the one you ordered they said.
There was much confusion on both our parts when I said we had not decided on the colour and had not ordered the door.
Well anyway the door had been made and the decision on the colour had been taken out of our hands.
The door was available to us and we could have it or not..the choice was ours.
The salesman was confident that if we decided not to have the door someone else would take it.
They had not made a door in this particular colour before but they liked the result.
He was confident we would too.
Well we went to the showroom and there was the door.
It was the perfect colour.
It was fitted.
It reminds me now of the doorway of decisions that we make every day.
Is there a doorway of indecision that you are standing on the threshold of?
The bible talks about multitudes in the valley of decision.
“Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision! For the day of the Lord is near in the valley of decision.”
Joel 3:14 NKJV
We all need to make a decision about Jesus.
Who is Jesus to you?
Jesus said that He is the way to God.
Jesus said He is the door.
If you see Jesus, you see God.
Jesus is the Way.
If you are stuck in that place of indecision about Jesus. Please don’t leave it too late and let the decision be taken out of your hands.
Today is the day..Decide for Jesus.
