Seeing but not seeing..making declarations

We are living in days when seeing clearly with spiritual sight and Godly vision is increasingly important.

We can see incorrectly so Godly vision, leading and discernment is key.

This reminder about “seeing but not seeing” has been coming to me regularly since the start of this year especially as we are in a season of praying about our church and its future.

This week the Lord brought Jeremiah to my mind and I read the first chapter again. The Lord opened my eyes to understanding something important from those verses of scripture.

When the prophet Jeremiah was called to his ministry the Lord told him that He had put His Word into Jeremiah.

Then the Lord put forth His hand and touched my mouth, and the Lord said to me: “Behold, I have put My words in your mouth.”
‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭1‬:‭9‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

The Lord then tested Jeremiah’s spiritual sight.

Moreover the word of the Lord came to me, saying, “Jeremiah, what do you see?” And I said, “I see a branch of an almond tree.” Then the Lord said to me, “You have seen well, for I am ready to perform My word.”
‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭1‬:‭11‬-‭12‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
Jeremiah saw correctly what the Lord showed him and then God revealed the interpretation and His plan.

The Lord then tested Jeremiah’s sight again.

And the word of the Lord came to me the second time, saying, “What do you see?” And I said, “I see a boiling pot, and it is facing away from the north.”
‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭1‬:‭13‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Jeremiah saw correctly again and God gave him the interpretation of what he saw.

It was only after seeing correctly that God then gave instructions to Jeremiah to declare God’s Word and speak it out.

Therefore prepare yourself and arise, And speak to them all that I command you.
‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭1‬:‭17‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
I believe that the Lord is impressing on me that we need to see correctly what God is showing us first before we can declare God’s Word into a situation.

Seeing first then declaring.

There is much “declaring” being promoted in Christian teaching as though we can simply declare something as a Christian, some bible verses, and it will happen.

Unless those declarations are truly aligned with God’s Will and what His vision is then I question the motives and legitimacy of them.

These are days that God is calling us afresh to see with His eyes.

To see what He is doing and align with His Will.
