I came, I saw, I conquered..

Alan’s post today about the deeper meaning of the Christmas Carol “O come, O come Emmanuel” which you can read here Considering Carols at Christmas reminded me of this poem I wrote some years ago.

Veni Vidi Vici

I came,

Down from heaven,

Expected yet unexpected,

Into humanity,

Into your lives,

A little helpless babe,

I came to all.

I saw,

The eyes of hope,

The eyes of hurt,

The eyes of wonder,

At miracles done,

I saw your hearts,

I saw you all.

I conquered,

In obedience,

Into pain, unto death,

In the tomb I lay,

Down I went,

Then up I rose,

I conquered all.
