A sports car in disguise…

For those who followed my recent van travel woes in France, I have good news.

The campervan is back in the UK and has now been repaired.

We collected the van last week and will be taking it for a road test and camping trip next weekend (but not too far away).

The problem was, as our UK mechanic had rightly diagnosed from the UK on hearing about the issue, one of the sensors in the engine.

It was it turned out a small job to replace the part and the van was fixed in a morning.

Interestingly, what should have been a simple quick inexpensive repair turned out to be anything but after accommodation, travel and repatriation costs to the UK have been factored in. The van spent a month sitting where we left it on the garage forecourt in France.

If only the garage in France had been brave enough to look under the bonnet. The engine was not that different really.

How often do we let appearances deceive us and put us off trying? We can give up because the challenge seems too big, it’s the unknown, but often once we tackle the problem find the mountain in our thinking is just a small hill really and we can overcome it after all.

Anyway, what does a sports car have to do with this?

Well it turns out I own a sports car…but it comes in the guise of a campervan.

The same 3.5l engine which is in this lovely sports car pictured which was recently proudly displayed in our local park is the same engine in my campervan. Who knew!

So I can (almost truly) say I own a sports car in a different guise…it’s just the way you see it.

Appearances can be deceiving..we look at the outward appearance but the Lord looks at the heart.

Who do I look at and see a steady campervan when really there is a sports engine under their bonnet just raring to go!!

Outward appearance rarely tells us what is beneath the skin.

Amen, Nicola! In my current administrative job, I’ve learned the hard way to not judge before I understand. People and situations are not always as they seem. Our job is to stay curious, ask good questions, and listen more than we talk.
I love your sports car in disguise analogy! 🙏🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🇺🇸

Does your husband put on all the Grand Prix gear and uniform before driving the van?
