Waiting with anticipation….this week the Lord has again been encouraging me to wait patiently for Him.
My friend blessed me in our prayer time on Wednesday with these words “waiting with anticipation”.
I have posted before the words the Lord spoke to me about actively waiting and being patient in the waiting (links below) but this was a new thought…waiting with anticipation.
I was reminded of childhood and the eve of great and exciting times whether Christmas Eve, New Year’s Eve, the eve of a birthday or a holiday.
I knew what was coming in the morning and sometimes the excitement and the anticipation was too much..I was so eager for the day ahead.
I was also reminded of the great anticipation of when I was expecting my children..isn’t it interesting that we say “I’m expecting” when pregnant. In those days we didn’t know if we were expecting a boy or a girl. It was a complete surprise and as the day drew near to give birth, I eagerly anticipated the birth and seeing and holding my baby for the first time.
I was certainly waiting with anticipation then but I sense that I am not waiting with that same anticipation and eagerness for the Lord and what He is doing and His second coming.
I pray the Lord will teach my heart what it is to wait for Him with anticipation.
“For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. For the earnest expectation of the creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God. For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it in hope; because the creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God. For we know that the whole creation groans and labors with birth pangs together until now. Not only that, but we also who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, eagerly waiting for the adoption, the redemption of our body. For we were saved in this hope, but hope that is seen is not hope; for why does one still hope for what he sees? But if we hope for what we do not see, we eagerly wait for it with perseverance. Romans 8 18-25 NKJV
Amen 🙏
