Malaise…This was the word that the Lord brought to a friend and then also to us as we prayed together this week.
It’s an interesting word and not one that I hear or read often or is generally used much in conversation.
It’s a very deep word though and I believe very significant as it refers to a condition.
That condition can be physical (as it can manifest as a symptom with health conditions) or it can be a personal feeling or even a shared community/national feeling. I believe it is also a spiritual condition that we need to recognise and guard against and pray about.
The dictionary definitions give us the following picture of malaise.
“Malaise is a general feeling of discomfort, illness, or lack of well-being. An uncomfortable feeling that something is wrong especially with society and that you cannot change the situation.”
“Malaise is a symptom that can occur with almost any health condition. It may start slowly or quickly, depending on the type of disease.”
“Fatigue (feeling tired) occurs with malaise in many diseases. You can have a feeling of not having enough energy to do your usual activities.”
“an indefinite feeling of debility or lack of health often indicative of or accompanying the onset of an illness. An infected person will feel a general malaise.”
“a vague sense of mental or moral ill-being a malaise of cynicism and despair.”
There is this element with malaise that you know something is wrong but you can’t quite put your finger on it.
Lack of well being and despair is the phrase that has really been highlighted to me at the moment as I think about this condition, Malaise.
Do you have or feel a lack of well being or despair for yourself or your family or a situation. Is there something wrong but you can’t quite put your finger on it? perhaps the root cause is Malaise.
Does this word “malaise” stir something in you?
If so, then I want to encourage you to pray about it today. Let us lift you or that person who has come to mind or the situation to the Lord Jesus today in prayer and ask the Lord to bring healing and release from any malaise that is present and to restore vitality and new purpose and strength and vigour. The breath of God to blow away all malaise and for the dry bones to live again. The Lord can change any situation because He alone is all powerful and mighty. Jesus is in the restoration business bringing fresh hope and the light of life. He is life in all its fullness. Amen 🙏
“Again He said to me, “Prophesy to these bones, and say to them, ‘O dry bones, hear the word of the Lord! Thus says the Lord God to these bones: “Surely I will cause breath to enter into you, and you shall live. I will put sinews on you and bring flesh upon you, cover you with skin and put breath in you; and you shall live. Then you shall know that I am the Lord.”
