Missing deliveries…

My friend told me a story the other day. Her husband had ordered a food takeaway delivery to their house. It hadn’t arrived after a while and so he called and was told it had already been delivered.

Well the food hadn’t arrived with him and so he suspected it had been wrongly delivered to a neighbour. He went around and knocked on the door. The lady who answered confirmed it had been delivered to her and yes, she hadn’t ordered it but had eaten it anyway!!!

My friend’s husband was flabbergasted not only because she had accepted the delivery knowing it was for someone else and eaten it but also because she saw nothing wrong with what she had done. As far as she was concerned, she was just taking advantage of the delivery driver’s mistake.

There is an advert on our UK TV at the moment which features a man whose home deliveries keep going missing.

He suspects his neighbours are taking and keeping them but each time they deny it although they are blantantly using, wearing the missing items each time they open the door.

The poor young man!

The advert is quite funny as the neighbours who are elderly are wearing, using items they would never normally use but it does shine a spotlight on a modern problem. Taking and keeping things which don’t belong to us….essentially stealing from our neighbours.

A modern problem we may think but apparently not.

The bible deals with the same issue thousands of years ago, who’d have thought it!

“If a person sins and commits a trespass against the Lord by lying to his neighbor about what was delivered to him for safekeeping, ..then it shall be, because he has sinned and is guilty, that he shall restore what he has stolen, or the thing which he has extorted, or what was delivered to him for safekeeping…He shall restore its full value, add one-fifth more to it, and give it to whomever it belongs” Leviticus 6 2-5NKJV

Imagine that…if everyone was to follow God’s ways and say sorry and restore with extra what was taken to their neighbours. My friend’s food delivery would be replenished with an extra portion of potato fries on the side 😊

People will make excuses for all sorts of bad behaviour nowadays. Calling evil good and deceiving themselves.

It’s amazing that taking what was meant for someone else is addressed in the Bible. The adding one 1/5 to the restitution is also fitting. I will remember this, if I ever inadvertently take something that belongs to someone else. And, with God’s help, may I never take something that doesn’t belong to me.

Incredible isn’t it David. There’s an answer for everything in the bible. It’s always relevant and up to date…unlike our phones. No updates required 😊

strangely enough yesterday I received a text of a delivery I wasn’t expecting with a picture of the delivery at what was supposed to be my front door, but wasn’t. Apparently it is a well known scam to con folk. Indeed integrity is a rare thing nowadays; everyone is selfish and on the take when possible. It is a great opportunity for the child of God to be a good witness to righteous ways and most importantly the love of God.

May our Father God guide and bless you and your family today Nicola 🙏

That’s why people with integrity are the shining lights of Jesus in our communities! Because we are rare. If this keeps up we will put on the endangered species list!
