Travelling by night..

“and by the night the pillar of fire illuminated the way they should go.” Nehemiah 9:19

My dear brother in Christ Alan Kearns at Devotional Treasures wrote this post called The Lord leads us which I recommend reading and you can access direct by clicking the title. It really spoke to me today especially theses verses from Exodus which I have highlighted.

The LORD was going before them in a pillar of cloud by day to lead them on the way, and in a pillar of fire by night to give them light, that they might travel by day and by night. Exodus 13:21 (NASB)

God led the Israelites with a pillar of fire at night to illuminate the way they should go so they could also travel at night.

Some of us are in the dark at the moment. We don’t know the way ahead. We can’t see what is around us and we can’t see the way ahead. Our only reference point is the light of Christ.

Some of us are in dark, distressing times.

What a comfort to know that even in the darkest of times we have God’s light, Jesus Christ the light of the world to lead us and guide us on. He is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path.

We are not confined or limited by the dark. We can still travel onwards even in the dark because Jesus comes into the darkness and shows us the way out.

Take comfort and encouragement today my dear friends that we can still travel in the dark. Jesus will lead you on. It may be just a step today but you will travel on.
