I was thinking yesterday of how so many Christmas songs and carols invite us to come and see and to come and take part in the wonder of Christmas.
It reminded me of the invitation Jesus extends to all of usโฆ.come and see.
This Christmas we extend the invitation to others to โCome and seeโ Jesus.
Jesus gave the first invitations to his disciples to โCome and Seeโ and in their excitement and joy they tell others and pass on the invitation to โCome and Seeโ.
โTurning round, Jesus saw them following and asked, โWhat do you want?โ They said, โRabbiโ (which means โTeacherโ), โwhere are you staying?โ โCome,โ he replied, โand you will see.โ So they went and saw where he was staying, and they spent that day with him.โ John.1.37-39
โNazareth! Can anything good come from there?โ Nathanael asked.โCome and see,โ said Philip. v46
Jesus showed the disciples who He was through how He lived daily, His words and His actions.
Jesus showed that He was God made flesh. The Messiah. The Saviour of the World. Miracle Worker.
After seeing and spending time with Jesus, the disciples believed and then accepted Jesusโ invitation to โCome and followโ.
The first step to faith was accepting that invitation to โCome and Seeโ.
Jesus is alive and working in His church today through the transforming power of the Holy Spirit.
We are not inviting you to come to experience a โchurch serviceโ but to come and see Jesus and His transforming love at work in us and through us.
We are not inviting you to come and belong to a club or โdo Churchโ but to come and see Jesus in His church.
Come and See Jesus for yourself this Christmas and discover who the greatest gift isโฆJesus.
Jesus gives an invitation to all – regardless of race, gender, creed or colour – regardless of what you think of yourself or what you have done.. everyone is welcome to come and see for themselves.
Donโt leave it too late my friends to come and see and discover Jesus for yourselves. What are you waiting for?
