I know, I know, it is far too early for Christmas decorations, trees and baubles but I couldn’t resist sharing this photo from the Canary island of Lanzarote.
We were having some winter sunshine last week and on our tour of the island, we were amazed to see this huge Christmas tree already up.
Apparently, it is the first to go up on the island and the prize of being “first” is their honour.
It did make me smile with its decorations of Santa hats.
The islands use these metal Christmas trees because of the climate and cover them with all sorts of different designs.

Each village on the island also create traditional Belenes which are large model villages creating the nativity scene. They are amazing works, some on a huge scale and they were being started whilst we were there. Visitors come from all over to see them across the island.
