En Belgique…

Good morning from Belgium.

We started our European travels last Thursday leaving our home in Birmingham the centre of England to travel south and take the Channel Tunnel from Kent arriving in Calais, France after just 35 minutes on the train under the sea! It was super quick and easy travel. I just didn’t want to think too much about all that water above us.

We decided to take our dog Chino with us on this trip. Getting his certificates, vaccinations to enable him to enter Europe now we are no longer part of the E.U. was no easy task and very expensive but we didn’t want to leave him behind for 3 weeks.

Did I mention this is a 3 week trip! In our tiny camper van! It should be fun, challenging and we will learn a lot I’m sure. I’ll keep you posted on our travels. Here are some photos of Brussels and the Ardennes which is a beautiful forrested area which unfortunately saw a lot of fighting in the Second World War and the Battle of the Bulge. The town we are staying in of La Roche en Ardenne was 90% destroyed by fighting and bombing. It was rebuilt but the cost to the people of this area not just financially was huge. It’s a humbling reminder of the brutality of war and the resilience of people. They rebuilt their town into the pearl of the Ardennes it is today.

That looks like a super adventure indeed. I couldn’t help but notice that you had a selection of beers in front of you Nicola (not that I am jealous at all 🥴), and your husband had two great salad platters…not that I am judging or anything.😁 Have fun, I am looking forward to your updates. God bless the three of you🙏

You have a keen eye Alan 😊🤣 did you see the beer glasses have little gnomes on them. Great fun. One was a cherry beer which was slightly strange and the dark one was called a McChuffe after a Scottish gnome! 🤣
