This Christmas we extend the invitation to others to “Come and see” Jesus.
Jesus gave the first invitations to his disciples to “Come and See” and in their excitement and joy they tell others and pass on the invitation to “Come and See”.
“Turning round, Jesus saw them following and asked, ‘What do you want?’ They said, ‘Rabbi’ (which means ‘Teacher’), ‘where are you staying?’ ‘Come,’ he replied, ‘and you will see.’ So they went and saw where he was staying, and they spent that day with him.” John.1.37-39
‘Nazareth! Can anything good come from there?’ Nathanael asked.‘Come and see,’ said Philip. v46
Jesus showed the disciples who He was through how He lived daily, His words and His actions. Jesus showed that He was God made flesh. The Messiah. The Saviour of the World. Miracle Worker.
After seeing and spending time with Jesus, the disciples believed and then accepted Jesus’ invitation to “Come and follow”.
The first step to faith was accepting that invitation to “Come and See”.
Jesus is alive and working in His church today through the transforming power of the Holy Spirit.
We are not inviting you to come to experience a “church service” but to come and see Jesus and His transforming love at work in us and through us.
We are not inviting you to come and belong to a club or “do Church” but to come and see Jesus in His church.
Come and See Jesus for yourself this Christmas and discover who the greatest gift is…Jesus.
Jesus gives an invitation to all – regardless of race, gender, creed or colour – regardless of what you think of yourself or what you have done.. everyone is welcome to come and see for themselves.
