Another brick in the wall..

For those of a certain age, (like me) you might remember a song written by Pink Floyd called “Another brick in the wall”.

One of the lyrics in that song caught my attention”All in all, you’re just another brick in the wall”.

Bricks are all uniform in shape and size. They are identical and when it comes to building a wall, that’s what makes life easier for the builder. He can line those bricks up and away he goes. There’s no surprises because every brick he uses will be identical in size and shape.

We as the body of Christ are referred to by Peter as “living stones” who are being built up together by our master builder, Jesus Christ. He is our cornerstone.

We are not bricks, all the same, but individual living stones. We are all different with unique personalities and different giftings who the Lord is building His Kingdom with.

The Lord looks at each precious living stone and knows exactly where to fit it for the benefit of all.

If you watch a farmer building a dry stone wall then you will understand what I’m getting at here. It’s a labour of love and each stone is different but the farmer knows where to place that stone to help make the wall higher and stronger.

Perhaps you need to hear this today…you are a living stone not just another brick in the wall.

Coming to Him as to a living stone, rejected indeed by men, but chosen by God and precious, you also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.” 1 Peter 2 4-5

Not just another brick in the wall

What a delight this was to read! Early in the opening I was thinking of dry stone diking, and then you brought it into the post! I learned the very basics of diking as a lad at agricultural college, I loved it. With their individually interwoven stones some dikes have stood for hundreds of years, long after many brick and mortar walls have cracked and crumbled. It is a beautiful and accurate metaphor for believers and the church that they form.
    Thank you Nicola 😊
God bless you today sister 🙏
