Then said I:“Ah, Lord God! Behold, I cannot speak, for I am a youth.” Jeremiah 1:6
When God called Jeremiah to be a prophet there was a fundamental problem as far as Jeremiah was concerned. He was too young for the role. He didn’t fit the mould.
Jeremiah lived in a society where his elders were his betters and they were the appointed leaders.
As a youth, he didn’t have a place of authority or influence and his elders and the people were unlikely to listen to him. They would give no weight or credibility to him as being a Prophet of God given his age. Jeremiah didn’t have a voice or a platform to be heard.
I’m sure there are some readers who can identify with Jeremiah. I’m not qualified to serve God..what me? I’m too ?…………God.
The Lord told Jeremiah though not to consider his youth a barrier, as God would direct Him and God would tell him what to say.
Jeremiah was realistic. Sometimes we have to be realistic too. Jeremiah did not bury his head in the sand. He acknowledged the challenges that following God’s plan for His life would mean. He knew there would be opposition to his calling as a Prophet but God was going to make a way.
God had called Him. God had appointed Him. He was God’s man for the task ahead.
Jesus tells us the same. As His followers, we will face opposition and persecution serving Him because the world is contrary to us. We don’t fit the mould.
Whatever God has called you to do in service to Him, you may not fit the mould or expectation (even in Christian circles) but don’t let that stop you. The bible is full of examples of people that didn’t fit the mould either but achieved incredible things through their faith in God. They responded to the call.
Be realistic about the challenges but encouraged that when God is for you nothing can stand against you and God’s plans will come to fruition. Trust and obey as the Prophet Jeremiah did and those other heroes of the faith.
You and I may not fit the mould of other’s expectations but let God mould us to be a vessel of service to Him. We couldn’t be in better hands.

Have a blessed day my friends.
