Indignation….

Indignation meaning:

anger about a situation which we think is wrong or unfair;

a righteous anger aroused by something unjust, unworthy or mean; or

the feeling of shock and anger which you have when you think that something is unjust or unfair.

Indignation….when did I last feel it. I wonder if I am becoming de-sensitised to the chronic injustice and unfairness that people suffer in this world because of overload.

There is a difference between true injustice and perceived injustice and I need Godly wisdom to discern.

We live in a society where everyone feels entitled. They have rights and are indignant when those rights are not protected.

There is a lot of protesting, shouting, noise and anger in our society but is the “cause” a call and protest for true justice for those who are suffering because they are being treated wrongly and unfairly or is it coming from a sense of entitlement and selfishness. They have it and I want it..it’s not fair.

I pray that I will not be blind to the true injustices in this world and will be stirred to pray and act righteously as God’s Spirit leads. I pray I will not become de-sensitised to injustice but will act justly and fairly and promote justice.

There are many injustices, evil and wicked acts in this world. God knows about each one. God is not ignoring them and we have confidence through faith that there is a truly righteous judge in Jesus.

These verses from Jeremiah stirred my heart.

The Lord has opened His armory,And has brought out the weapons of His indignation” Jeremiah 50.25

The Lord feels indignation ..righteous indignation about injustice and I am so grateful that He does.

The world’s noise attempts to hide God’s Word when we really need to focus on it. Blessings for sharing some of His light.

I’ve recently run across some folks with a huge sense of entitlement and like David said, “that’s not fair!” Life will only be fair when we are in heaven. In the meantime, just be your best and let the other stuff go.

Yes let’s be our best. Let justice roll down like a river was the thought that came to mind as I read your comment. Hope all is well with you.

Nicola, your timely post reminds me of the “That’s not Fair!” button I have, somewhere in my brain. Sometimes it goes off for a good reason, and sometimes not, yet God’s indignation is always spot on. 🙏May the things that grieve our Heavenly Father also grieve us. Thank you for sharing this. I enjoy your writing. God’s best to you and your!

Thanks David. That’s really kind of you to say so. My “That’s not fair” button gets stuck sometimes too. God is so good and gracious to keep working on me.

This is a powerful and worthwhile thought Nicola; we all need to double check our displeasure/indignation…that is not misplaced. The world be full of indignation of the wrong kind, but we are called to be in the world but not of it.

Love this – “I pray that I will not be blind to the true injustices in this world and will be stirred to pray and act righteously as God’s Spirit leads. I pray I will not become de-sensitized to injustice but will act justly and fairly and promote justice.”

The only way I can ever [eventually] leave an injustice with God is to finally accept that He will, without exception, judge [them] at a fixed point in time.

It reminds me that we all have to hold ourselves accountable and, actually, I find that quite liberating.

But, being honest, that conclusion is not something I frequently arrive at soon enough!!
