A refreshing break..

Good morning readers and fellow bloggers. I don’t know if you missed me but I’ve been away the last 10 days on holiday. We took our little camper van which is tiny but cosy and lots of fun on a road trip. It’s a 20 year old Japanese import which has been converted with a pop up roof and roll down bed. You can just about squeeze the two of us in and the dog. Fortunately he’s a small dog.

It was a much needed break with my husband with lots of walking, fresh air, beautiful countryside, wildlife and unusually for the British weather, no rain but sunshine. I think I’m at my happiest just sitting in a field looking at the scenery around me whether a river, the rolling green hills and watching all the wildlife. Simple pleasures. It reminds me that God created a beautiful natural environment for us.

We also caught up with some of our other family for a few days in Wales which was lovely. We stayed at a lovely cottage overlooking the estuary. It’s one of my favourite places in the world and we return to this little oasis of calm year after year.

Normal blogging will resume soon but my time away has inspired me to share a previous post on refreshing company. I don’t know about you but I know some people who are “drainers”. I come away from time with them feeling emotionally drained. They’ve sucked everything out of me.

Paul talked about another type of people “Refreshers”. I hope you have plenty of those in your life too. Perhaps you are one of them 😀.

“I was glad when Stephanas, Fortunatus and Achaicus arrived, because they have supplied what was lacking from you. For they refreshed my spirit and yours also. Such men deserve recognition”.
1 Corinthians 16:17-18

These bible verses really inspired me today. Oh how blessed we are to have people like a Stephanus, Fortunatus and Achaicus in our lives and in the body of Christ. People who refresh us.

These type of Christian believers are commended by Paul. They must have been a great source of encouragement and Godly wisdom to the early church.

We all need times of refreshing. One of those ways of refreshing is also through other believers, just as Paul and the Corinthians were refreshed by the visit of these 3 men.

As Paul says, such people deserve recognition.

Can I encourage us all to take some time to think about the people who are the refreshing company in our lives. They make us happy when we see them. They give and impart good things. Positive people.

Let’s thank God for them. They are a blessing.

Let’s also make a point of thanking them. It’s good to let such people know that we value them.

Finally, let’s all try to be the “refreshing” company we enjoy so people are happy to see and hear from us. We can be that source of refreshment to others.

Let’s be “Refreshers”.

Have a blessed day friends.

Thank you. It is beautiful in that part of Wales. You don’t realise sometimes how much you need a break until you get away. It was very relaxing.

Thank you Robert. Isn’t it just. I find that I often read a bible passage and although I’ve read it many times before, I can notice something new which challenges, inspires. The bible truly is the bread of life. Have a blessed day.

What beautiful scenery Nicola, it certainly looks peaceful. God is Good indeed!
There are enough “weerie Willie’s” in life trying to pull others down, I pray that I do my best to encourage those folk around me, and those I write for.
Looking forward to seeing your regular posts again sister. God bless you and your family today 🙏
