Fresh Bread (4) God’s Banqueting table

During this Holy Week as we consider the death and resurrection of Jesus, I am reminded of God’s banqueting table and that His banner over us there is love.

Those words are from the Song of Solomon

He brought me to the banqueting house,And his banner over me was love.” Song of Songs 2.4 NKJV

It is only through that act of selfless love when Jesus Christ died on the cross that we have the ability to come to that banqueting table and to the place prepared for us there.

Christ issued the invitation and I along with millions of fellow believers have accepted.

Christ’s banner of love is over me and all around me when I am there in His presence. I am loved and accepted. I am surrounded on all sides by His love.

I have a place just for me at the banqueting table. This is personal. It’s personal for you too. I am seated in the presence of Jesus, King of Kings. Jesus who sees me and loves me.

I am dressed appropriately for the banquet with the garment of salvation and the robes of righteousness because I have accepted and serve Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour. I am confident that I will be given entry because I have my name written in the Lamb’s book of life.

There is always a warm welcome for me and my place will never be filled by anyone else. I don’t have to worry about there being no room for me. I always don’t have to worry about where I sit either. Jesus has the perfect place for me.

The banquet is a picture of abundance and plenty for everyone. The best food and drink are laid on at the banquet for the guests. God can do exceedingly above all that I ask or even imagine because he is a God of abundance. There is nothing lacking or in scarce supply in My Father’s House. He can meet all my needs.

The banqueting table is currently open to come at any time – 24/7. Entry times are not restricted. Time for this once in a lifetime opportunity will run out though.

The day will come when the door will be closed and no further entry permitted.

My dear friend if you do not know Jesus as your Lord and Saviour then don’t delay and miss your opportunity to accept the invitation to life with Jesus and have the assurance that one day you will be celebrating at Heaven’s banquet.

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. “He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.”
John.3.16-18.
