God – He is on your side

I was reminded of this post following an encouraging word from our Pastor on Sunday. I thought it would be a timely #ThrowbackThursday post.

Psalm 46 verse 1 declares that:

“God is our refuge and strength. A very present help in times of trouble“.

If you are in the middle of difficult times and struggling to hang on and feel that everything is conspiring against you, then I encourage you to take hold of these bible verses. Meditate on them. They will be life to you today.

God is with you in the middle of it all and will not let you sink. His everlasting arms are around you to support you.

In verse 10 it says “Be still and know that I am God“.

I always thought that this meant that I was to be still and know Him in such times but the footnotes in my Bible say that this is God telling the wicked- “Be Still and know that I am God“.

In other words God is telling the enemy who is rising against us and conspiring against us “Back off -enough is enough- you don’t have a chance of winning in this situation because I am God”. Jesus has already defeated the enemy. He has won.

I love that. Thank you Father that you are on our side. God puts the enemy well and truly in his place. He reminds the enemy that God alone will be exalted among the nations. All glory, honour and power are His alone.

God may allow us to go through certain trials and struggles to strengthen our faith and so that we can grow in spiritual maturity – things that sometimes we do not understand- but ultimately God always has the last say over the enemy and his strategies because God is God.

God is sovereign and everything in heaven and earth is subject to Him.

This was evident when Jesus spoke to the storm that was raging all around the boat carrying the disciples and Jesus over the sea of Galilee. Jesus was right there in the boat with the disciples. He commanded the winds and the waves to “Be still” and they were.

Does God need to speak into a few storms in your life or do you need to remind the storms that God is saying to them “Be Still“.

Bless you today.

Shalom Peace

Today’s post in our prayer series is about JEHOVAH SHALOM.

“Then the Lord said to him, “Peace be with you; do not fear, you shall not die.” So Gideon built an altar there to the Lord, and called it The- Lord – Is -Peace. Judges 6:23-24

Shalom Peace means rest, harmony, wholeness, completeness, health, welfare, safety, soundness, tranquillity, and prosperity. In other words total wellbeing.

Praise God that He is our peace and we can find total wellbeing in Him despite our current circumstances and trials. God can bring us perfect peace in the midst of the storms of life that rage around us.

God is Peace. The peace that passes all understanding.

Jesus is the Prince of Peace.

Gideon lived in a time when there was no peace in the land. The Israelites were constantly being oppressed and attacked by their enemies the Midianites. Their crops and livestock were being destroyed and plundered. The Israelites were in hiding. Some were living in caves. They had no peace. They lived in constant fear.

Gideon was secretly threshing the wheat in the wine press to hide it from the Midianites when the Angel of the Lord appeared to him. He would have been in a state of anxiety fearing discovery. Suddenly the Angel of the Lord appears. Gideon thought he would be struck down but the Lord said “Peace be with you”.

Gideon built an altar to God and called the altar Jehovah Shalom”.

If you are in need of God’s peace today then our prayer for you is from the blessing in Numbers 6:24-26 and Isaiah 26:3

May the Lord bless you and keep you;

May the Lord make His face shine upon you,

and be gracious to you;

The Lord lift up His countenance upon you,

and give you His total peace.

Lord we ask that today you will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are stayed on you and who trust in you.

We thank you that Jesus promised us -“Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid”.

We receive that Peace today which Jesus gives us.

Amen.

A warning-Avoid the spirit of rebellion

As I was praying recently, I wrote the following word which the Lord Jesus laid on my heart. Please pray, weigh and test this word.

A day of calamity is arising. It will come from the South. The Queen of the South has left a legacy that still has roots in the people. It will start to rise up now; first shoots and then the stalk and then the leaf. It will be like a cancerous weed that will slowly spread and choke the life out of all that is good, kind and righteous in the people. A rebellion will take hold that will spread like a roaring fire. It will be whipped up by the wind of the enemy, spreading its influence to adjoining nations and then overseas.

Then suddenly I will send My angels who will fight the evil enemy behind this uprising and I will quench it and extinguish and then uproot it.

My children must have no part in this rebellion. It will have a pretence of truth, righteousness and justice but it is all a pretence and a sham. A great lie rooted in corruption and evil. It will blow away like the chaff when I breathe the breath of God on it and roar in the face of evil and overcome it by My radiance. I will shine like the sun and dazzle the enemy. He will be blinded and futile and will turn on his own in his confusion. His pride will yet again be his downfall. Let all who have ears to hear, listen to what the Spirit is say to the bride. Do not align yourself with rebellion and wickedness.

Be at peace with those in authority who do no harm to you and leave you in peace. May the Godly have wisdom and discernment and follow the path of truth and justice and not be led astray by evil workers of iniquity.

Not all who call on My name belong to Me. Not all who profess to love Me are mine. Not all who claim to follow Me do so. They are lovers of self, deluded by their own wickedness and pride who long for the praises of man and to be recognised and praised and lauded for their good works, but I will smash them down to the ground and trample them underfoot for they are not of My Kingdom. They are not of Me and I will not have My name polluted and used for things that are not of Me.

Bear fruit worthy of your calling in Me, My children. Do not bear the fruit of iniquity or pride. Let those who have ears listen to what the Spirit is saying to the bride in these days. Be alert, sober and watchful for the days are evil but they will not last, for I am coming to breathe and blast the enemy from My nostrils, as I snort at him who would seek to exalt his throne above that of the Most High God whose throne is in Heaven and who reigns forever and ever. Amen

Beware of a false peace

God reminded me today of this picture and word he gave me many months ago and so I am reposting it today. The current Covid 19 situation came to mind. Is this a warning from God not to think all is over or getting better but to remain vigilant and keep our eyes on Him. Are we in a time of a false peace and need to prepare for the rest of the storm to pass over.

Perfect peace is found in God and not in our circumstances or situation which is changeable.  Today as I was worshipping God,  I saw a picture of a big storm, a hurricane.  As the hurricane passed over there was “peace” at the eye of the storm.  However,  people know from experience that this peace is a “false peace” because the rest of the storm is still to pass over.   In whatever our circumstances, we could be deceived into thinking a temporary lull is the answer to our prayers and relax.   We may not then be prepared for the rest of the storm.   I sense God is warning us not to be deceived by a false peace but to remain watchful and seek Him.  To fix our eyes on Him.  To continue to pray and intercede as the Holy Spirit leads us.  Seek Him in all situations for Godly wisdom and discernment so that we continue to press in and do not relax our prayers.   Keep pressing in.
