Portraying God

As Christians we want to portray God accurately to others. Misrepresentation is a serious thing. So serious that there are laws in place to protect people from misrepresentation and compensate them when it happens. This is certainly the case in the UK where I live and practice law and I am sure in other nations.

Although this week’s blog will have a bit of a legal influence (it’s my day job after all) I promise it won’t be boring…now there’s a possible misrepresentation if ever there was one!! 😊

This theme of misrepresentation caught my attention recently when I read again Job’s story. It’s certainly not the easiest book in the bible to read. As a heads up, the things that happen to Job and his family are terrible. If you’ve never read Job before then do try it and persevere as it has lots of rich nuggets in there and spoiler alert…a happy ending.

One of the things though that we can easily overlook as we get to the end of the story and the good stuff for Job is that God is not happy about some things that have happened. In fact He is angry that Job’s friends have not spoken accurately about God in their discussions with Job when they were trying to ‘help” their friend. They have misrepresented God in their talks and God is now taking them to task for it.

That’s serious stuff and really got me to thinking and it’s a big challenge. As a Christian do I accurately represent God to people or do I misrepresent Him? Do I accurately reflect God in my blog and my writings? In my family life, church life, with my Christian friends and in my workplace. When I preach in church and in our small group fellowships. This is a massive topic for thought and discussion and I’m sure will prompt lots of thoughts and comments from others as we reflect and consider this more.

Now in legal terms there are different levels or types of misrepresentation because the law realises that not every type of misrepresentation is the same. There are two though that I thought might help us think about this a bit more.

There is an “innocent” misrepresentation where the person didn’t realise that they had said or done something wrong. They hadn’t meant to mislead the other person into believing something which wasn’t true because they believed it to be true themselves.

That’s an easy thing to do and it can happen to us. We say something about God that we believe to be true, perhaps it’s something we have been told by others or taught, even brought up in faith to believe or was our mindset before but actually it’s not correct. Our source of information was wrong or we have not interpreted it incorrectly. We didn’t mean to mislead anyone but we have done it. We have believed and repeated a false teaching or doctrine. We have become the blind leaders of the blind that Jesus warns about. We may have given the wrong impression about God perhaps because we don’t want to offend someone

There are consequences for both parties though when this happens because even an innocent misrepresentation is wrong and leads us on the wrong path. Someone suffers along the way. Perhaps not immediately but at some stage it will have an impact.

When I read the story of Job I think that’s what his friends have done. They were sincerely trying to help. They thought they were giving Godly advice and they were learned, sincere, passionate and believable. There’s a responsibility on us to ensure that what we tell others about God is true especially when we think we are helping others with Godly advice. I always remember being taught in class that “ignorance of the law is no defence”. In other words if I’m caught speeding I can’t say I didn’t know that the legal speed limit was 70 and I was doing 90. I’m expected to find out what the requirements are to be a responsible citizen.

The good news is that as believers we have been given the tools to portray God properly. We have the bible, Jesus’ example to follow and the Holy Spirit who is the Spirit of Truth and God himself that lives within us. Thank the Lord that we can trust in God that He will lead us and guide us into all truths. If we have doubts then we have the ability to discover the truth about God. We need to have that humble attitude of heart though and be willing to listen and be corrected. If we think we know it all then we will be heading for a fall.

We also need to take our responsibility seriously to check things out for ourselves and apply ourselves to knowledge and understanding and seeking guidance from Godly leaders and teachers. God has blessed us with the gifts of ministry especially the gift of teaching within the body of Christ for this very reason. Paul used to do this within the early church and there are examples in his writings. This is why it’s beneficial and necessary to belong to a good fellowship of believers and meet together to be discipled.

The other type of misrepresentation is a fraudulent misrepresentation. Now in this case the person knows that what they are saying or doing is wrong and they are deliberately misleading the other person for their own gain in some way..it could be for a material benefit or for more subtle benefits. This is why Jesus himself warned us about the wolves in sheep’s clothing. Those within the body of Christ who are pretending to be believers but are deliberately trying to sabotage the work of the Church and hurt believers. They will be exposed and they can and will be identified. They won’t display the fruit of the Spirit and Peter and Jude’s letters to believers also help us to look out for the signs and warn us to avoid following their behaviours.

I want to portray God accurately. I ask God to forgive me when I have not done so and pray that He will lead me and guide me in His truth. To put the record straight when I have got it wrong. Teach me your ways God so that I may and will also help others to discover you, the one true God, your son Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit of Truth.

Let me know your thoughts and have a blessed day. I have a feeling that the Lord has much more to teach me on this topic. Bless you.

After the Lord had finished speaking to Job, he said to Eliphaz the Temanite: “I am angry with you and your two friends, for you have not spoken accurately about me, as my servant Job has.”
Job 42:7

We all need a helping hand

God’s Healing Power

Sometimes, it’s important to be clear about what you believe. I felt convicted of that this morning. I am not ashamed to say that I believe in God’s power to heal us from sickness and disease, not just in days of past but also for today. I worship and believe in a God that heals yesterday, today and tomorrow. God boldly declares it about himself, it’s part of God’s character. He is a healer. He calls himself Jehovah Rapha..the God who heals. That’s a bold statement.

God doesn’t just say empty words about himself. He demonstrates that what He says about himself is true and reliable. We can have faith in Him that His words are true. There is a continued thread throughout the bible of God demonstrating His healing power in the Old Testament and continued by Jesus in the New Testament and then by the Apostles and other believers. There are many stories of healing and witnesses who testified about God healing them.

Healing was a major part of Jesus’ ministry when He was here on earth. He had such compassion on people that He did many healings and miracles which the gospels tell us about. I believe those accounts.

“They had come to hear him (Jesus) and to be healed of their diseases; and those troubled by evil spirits were healed. Everyone tried to touch him, because healing power went out from him, and he healed everyone.”
Luke 6:18-19

The bible teaches us that God’s healing powers did not stop when Jesus returned to heaven because Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to continue His work through His believers. The Apostles and other believers filled with the Holy Spirit also healed in Jesus name.

Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, “Rulers and elders of our people, are we being questioned today because we’ve done a good deed for a crippled man? Do you want to know how he was healed? Let me clearly state to all of you and to all the people of Israel that he was healed by the powerful name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, the man you crucified but whom God raised from the dead. For Jesus is the one referred to in the Scriptures, where it says, ‘The stone that you builders rejected has now become the cornerstone.’

“What should we do with these men?” they (the leaders) asked each other. “We can’t deny that they have performed a miraculous sign, and everybody in Jerusalem knows about it. The council then threatened them further, but they finally let them go because they didn’t know how to punish them without starting a riot.

For everyone was praising God for this miraculous sign—the healing of a man who had been lame for more than forty years.

After their release the disciples prayed:

“And now, O Lord, hear their threats, and give us, your servants, great boldness in preaching your word. Stretch out your hand with healing power; may miraculous signs and wonders be done through the name of your holy servant Jesus.”
Acts 4:8-11,16,21-22,29-30

Healing didn’t stop there either as the bible teaches us through the Apostle Paul that the Holy Spirit continues to give the gift of healing through believers:

The same Spirit gives great faith to another, and to someone else the one Spirit gives the gift of healing.” 1 Corinthians 12:9

We are encouraged to pray for those who are sick:

Are any of you sick? You should call for the elders of the church to come and pray over you, anointing you with oil in the name of the Lord. Such a prayer offered in faith will heal the sick, and the Lord will make you well. And if you have committed any sins, you will be forgiven. Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.”
James 5:14-16

Does everyone that we pray for get healed immediately or physically healed. The answer to that from my own experience is No. I don’t operate in a gift of healing continually. I can testify however that I have experienced people being healed immediately and I have felt the power of the Holy Spirit go through me by the laying on of hands. Yet on other times not.

Do I get discouraged sometimes when people I pray for or we pray for as a fellowship are not healed. Yes, I do. Do I understand why some prayers for healing are answered and some not. No I don’t. It doesn’t stop me though from stirring up my faith, refusing to give in to disappointment and praying again. I persevere because I know and believe that I serve a loving, faithful God who can and does heal. It is His Will which is to be done and He knows what is best in every circumstance. God wants people to be saved and spend eternity with Him through faith in His son Jesus.

I know there are other bloggers on WordPress who have also been healed and have shared their testimonies online. I have met people who have experienced God’s healing touch through faith in Jesus Christ and been encouraged by their testimonies. I have shared my own story of experiencing healing. God healed me once in a very different way than I expected. You can read about what happened here Healing – My story.

I’ll share my Mum’s story tomorrow. Pam was healed from Meningitis before I was born. The doctors had told my Dad that there was little hope of recovery but the Church held an all night prayer meeting and God moved powerfully on her behalf. I believe her testimony will encourage someone who need to hear that there is a God who heals and His healing power is available today.

I pray God’s blessing on you all today.

God Appointments

I was encouraged to write this post by dear brother Alan Kearns’ recent post Evidence for prayer and his prompting to ask for God appointments in our day. I just wanted to cheer when I read it and say…..Yes, Amen. It really does work. I have found it opens the way for God to use me in all types of situations and even in my weaknesses and messes to bless others. God loves people. He really, really does and longs to show His care and compassion.

If you’re reading this thinking I can’t do that. It’s for those Super Spiritual, amazing Christians and that sounds way too scary for me, I won’t know what to say or do…then join the club. I was just like that too but then I realised that there aren’t many of those “super spiritual walking on water Christians” around and anyway this was not about me, it’s all about God wanting to show His love and care to His children and God’s just looking for someone to say “I’m here…little old me, nothing special but I’m available for an appointment God, so please use me and do your work through me”..that was it, my prayer and God brought those appointments along.

God showed me that we can be the answer to someone else’s need by sometimes doing something so simple…..like just holding someone’s hand. This is what happened to me in one of those God Appointments.

I was in our local cafe one afternoon with 2 friends. It was a regular meet up as once a month we would meet for a coffee, chat and prayer. The manager of the cafe was a Christian from another local church and knew us. I went up to order my coffee and he asked if he could introduce me to someone. It was an elderly lady who was a regular customer at the cafe. She had recently been widowed and was lonely. I asked her if she would like to join us at our table and she did.

We chatted for some time and had a lovely time with her. We listened as she talked about her husband and their times together. Towards the end of our chat, I explained that we were Christians and asked her if we could pray for her before we left, She agreed and as we prayed, I felt prompted to take her hand. I asked her if it was ok if I held her hand and she said yes and then started to cry. She explained that the one thing she missed more than anything was holding her husband’s hand. Every time they walked anywhere together they held hands. She told us that as she had walked to town that day, she really missed her husband and had wanted someone to just hold hands with again. That had been the desire of her heart. That just blew me away and we all started crying. God had known exactly what she needed to comfort her and so He set up that appointment for her.

That dear lady wasn’t a Christian when we met but from that first meeting and then subsequent chats around the coffee table, she started to go to her local church and got confirmed. Praise God. From little seeds that are planted it’s amazing what God can do.

Have a blessed day and I hope you feel encouraged to ask God for an appointment for Him today. I’m looking forward to hearing and sharing more testimonies of God at work through these divine appointments.

A simple touch of love

Waiting Patiently…

I have been reminded of this word which the Lord gave me in August 2020 which I posted on False Manifestations…Watchmen Arise. I also posted recently on The trap of deceit and there is a warning theme in these posts against deception which the Lord is bringing back to my attention.

Satan is a counterfeiter of the things of God. It’s such a wicked thing to deceive people in this way by pretending to be of God or a move of God. It is one of Satan’s craftiest weapons.

If as believers we just hunger and seek after signs and wonders as “evidence” that the Holy Spirit is at work or present then we are in danger of being deceived by false spirits and false manifestations. This will be especially true if we are not rooted and grounded in sound biblical doctrine and the true gospel of Jesus.

This is why discipleship and having a correct understanding of the Word of God and the Holy Spirit are so important. The Word without the Spirit in our lives is not in balance nor is the Spirit without the Word. The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Truth. He leads and guides us into truth.

The bible teaches us that satan can appear as an angel of light as do false apostle and false teachers. Paul says this in his letter to the church at Corinth:

“For such people are false apostles, deceitful workers, masquerading as apostles of Christ. And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light. It is not surprising, then, if his servants also masquerade as servants of righteousness. Their end will be what their actions deserve.
2 Corinthians 11:13-15

Have you ever been blinded by a bright light? If someone has ever shone a light directly into your eyes then you will know what I mean. You become dazzled and blinded by that light and you cannot then see anything else around you. This is like the blinding light of Satan. It takes your attention from everything else and blinds you to the truth. God is light and this is why satan also pretends to be light.

Satan still acts in this way today and he will until the end. Counterfeits and deception are still part of his schemes but as Christians we do not have to fear deception but place our confidence in Jesus the rock of our salvation and allow Him to lead and guide us.

If we are ever in doubt then we should not blindly accept what is being said or done but test it. Test it against biblical teaching, test it with fellow believers and test it in prayer with God.

This is part of the word that I posted previously on this theme;

You will hear a rumour or a word that “The Lord is there ” – Jehovah Shammah” but the Lord says do not be fooled.

The Lord says that in the past many have run after the manifestations of the Holy Spirit because of a deep hunger to meet the Lord and encounter His presence but these have often been false manifestations and have led people into the wrong things and opened up a door in their lives to the enemy by accepting a false anointing or a false spirit to oppress them.

The Lord says that you don’t have to run after manifestations of His glory. The glory of the Lord is coming to you.

Wait patiently for the Lord he says – He will come. He will not disappoint you.

The Lord says that He has already warned us in His word not to run after such manifestations or people that claim to be Him. He says not to do it -for if you do then you will be deceived.

As the lightning streaked across the sky as it did in the storms that roared across this nation in the night and which all could see clearly in the sky, then so shall the coming of the Son of Man be.

Do not be deceived. Do not go running after false manifestations of the Spirit and the glory.

You will know the awesome presence of the Lord for He is Holy and where He is – is Holy. You will not be able to stand in His presence. Every knee will bow & every tongue confess that He is Lord. He is Lord & there is no other.

The Lord does things according to His Word. He does not act outside of His Word.

Keep the Word of God close to your heart. Feed on the Word of God. Be guided by the Word and do not be deceived for many false prophecies & false words are circulating at the moment. Many false prophets and leaders are rising up in this hour to lead His people astray.

Do not be deceived says the Lord. Say true to His Word – Put your trust in God & do not be deceived. God is faithful and He is true. He will sustain you and protect you at these times.

Watchmen – Take your place on the city walls. Arise & look out at the horizons.

What do you see?

Warn the body of Christ. Sound the alarm. You need to watch in these days ahead says the Lord. There is an acceleration now occurring and things will happen fast. There is a suddenly approaching – Look & Wait. Sound the alarm when the time comes and warn the body of Christ.

Blessings to you this day in Jesus name.

Overcoming the Giants

This is an encouraging word which I received from the Lord last week during a prayer vigil. I hope it is an encouragement for you as well. I heard the Lord say to me:

I have brought My people to such a time and such a place as this. In the Spirit you are in a very wide place – can you see? As far as the eye can see is the territory that I am giving to you My children, it is yours. It is your glorious inheritance in Me. You will stretch far and wide – even beyond the horizon will your influence be felt. Your territory will be magnificent.

All that has stood in your way – the strongholds of the enemy will be demolished, pulled down and rooted out by My anointed ones. You will face your giants and you will overthrow them. The giants in your land are being overthrown. Giants of false religion, giants of wickedness, giants of rebellion, giants of depravity and filth, giants who take captives and feed on My people.

Enough is enough. My remnant, My faithful ones, My anointed ones – they will rise up with wings as Eagles and they will drive out the enemy from this territory.

I am bringing a fresh anointing of My Holy Spirit upon you. The wind of My Spirit is going to blow and propel you into places you have never been before in the physical and in the spiritual realm.

This is the day of the Lord. Rejoice and be glad for your King has come and the glory of the Lord is risen upon you.

My blessed and beloved ones. My angels are encamped all around you. I have sent them to help you and to carry out My commands. They will war with you and they are for you in the battle to evict the enemy from your territory.

All honour and glory and power belongs to the Lamb who sits upon the throne forever and ever. Amen and Amen. Let all who know the King say Amen.

Later as we prayed I saw a vision of an angel in the Spirit. He had a scroll tied with red ribbon in his right hand and in his left hand he had a trumpet. He was blowing the trumpet to awaken the people of God. I believe that this angel was sent to carryout God’s commands which were written in the scroll and which were in response to the prayers of the Saints. As the angel blew the trumpet, I saw the land of the nation being ploughed up and down its breadth and its length. I believe it was God’s Word and the prayers of the Saints which were breaking up the soil.

These verses which Peter spoke when the Holy Spirit was poured out on the day of Pentecost from the Prophet Joel were brought to my remembrance. I pray for an outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon us.

In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams. Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days, and they will prophesy.”
Acts 2:16-18

Be ready for the “Suddenlies”

I believe the Lord is saying get ready for the “Suddenlies”. There will be a sudden shift and the Holy Spirit will come in power and you will experience God move in situations in your life where you have been waiting, perhaps even waiting years, for a breakthrough. It will suddenly come and it will be a clear move of God. You have been prepared in this time of waiting for the “suddenly” in God’s perfect timing.

The Lord reminded me of a similar word He gave me titled “”The Doldrums” which I have copied below and posted the link to the whole blog if you recognise that you are waiting for the “Suddenly.”

This is the part the Lord reminded me about:

“For anyone who may be experiencing a feeling that they are stuck in the doldrums at the moment – where they are seeing a lack of activity, movement or progress in their lives- a feeling of being stuck in the same place. Do not despair, there is hope for you and breakthrough awaits.

In some instances, God’s hand has kept you in that place until His perfect timing and He has worked in you and prepared you so that you are ready for the suddenlies – the wind of God’s Spirit will come suddenly and you will see great acceleration and growth.

There will be a sudden shift. Some people have been waiting for the wind -God’s wind and a fresh breath of the Spirit of God to propel them forward to where they need to be.

I pray that such people will be stirred up in hope and experience a fresh impetus to push forward in God and let Him breathe new life again into their vision.

I hope this word encourages you today and I have posted the link to the original post here The Doldrums-hope to move on

Have a blessed day 😊

Transmogration !

Wow, what a mouthful of a word. It comes from the word “Transmogrify” or ” Transmogrified”.

I had never heard of this word until I heard it spoken to me in a dream that the Lord gave me last week. I should explain that this word I heard in my dream is not the full expression of the word the Lord was highlighting to me. He was having some fun with me as I will explain below. The Lord knows I love puzzles so he gives me some clues to test me 🤣. He enjoys it when I get the “ aha” moment of revelation.

So on the night I had a dream, the Lord spoke the word “Transmogration” to me. I repeated it several times to myself and understood in my sleep that this word was important and I needed to remember it on waking as it was a word I did not know or had heard before.

When I woke up I looked up this word in the dictionary and it fully is “Transmogrification”. It comes from the word “Transmogrify” which means “to change or change completely so the shape and form of something after this process is radically changed.”

Isn’t that just an incredible word which describes what happens when we encounter Jesus Christ and our life in Christ. We change completely.

The best illustration of this in nature is the process of a caterpillar turning into a butterfly. It’s shape and form are completely changed into something new.

The word also speaks of a “surprising or supernatural change”. A reminder that it is the supernatural power of God in our lives by the power and ongoing work of the Holy Spirit. Not a change we can bring about by our own efforts. It is only God.

As the word spoken to me was the action verb then I believe God is saying we “as the church” the form of “church” His people” are currently in the process of changing shape and being radically transformed. That’s exciting. I’m sure many of us have experienced or are experiencing these changes so be encouraged.

The interesting thing is that the word I heard was “Transmogration” and the actual word is “Transmogrification”. The missing letters “If I C” are the Lord getting my attention.

As I said before, I believe the Lord loves a pun and he was drawing this specifically to my attention. He was reminding me that He is the one that will radically change things but only if I will allow him to do the process and see (C) what he is doing. Completely submitted to Him and obedient to His leading.

What is the Lord in the process of changing in your life and church at the moment? I’d be interested to hear. I pray that you and I will see as God wants us to see so that we can come into alignment with His plans, His Purposes and His will.

Blessings to you this day.

Being transformed
Transformed and ready to fly

Today..God is speaking

In the night, I was wakened with theses words “Today, if you will hear His voice DO NOT HARDEN your heart.” I felt a great stirring from the Lord to share these words with us all today so that we can ask the Holy Spirit to reveal the true condition of our hearts.

The Lord is speaking in these days to us through His Holy Scriptures and through His Holy Spirit. He wants us to hear His voice above all others. Especially each day. What is God saying Today. Let us have ears to hear as the Spirit says, what the Lord is speaking to us, individually and corporately as His body of believers. His church.

I have posted below the scriptures which speak of our hearts being hardened. We are warned to guard our hearts against unbelief, sin, unfaithfulness and disobedience as these will hinder and stop us entering into what God has for us.

My dear friends, I pray that we will seek the Lord for His guidance today and repent of anything the Holy Spirit reveals to us through Holy Scripture which is causing our hearts to be hard. Sometimes we don’t realise that there can be a hardening of our hearts. It can be very subtle.

Many years ago, my husband was extremely ill and thought he was having a heart attack. His symptoms were of a heart attack and in the ambulance and at the hospital, the tests were showing a heart attack. He was very young at the time and you would not think he could be suffering a heart attack. He was very healthy and fit. Even when the ambulance crew came, they laughed with us at the very thought but all soon changed when the ECG machine tested his heart.

However, the Consultant at the hospital said that they would not diagnose a heart attack until the blood tests came back. It was the blood which would tell them the condition of the heart. When the blood test came back there had been no evidence of a heart attack.

The consultant informed us that it was a virus that was attacking my husbands heart. The virus worked by hardening the tissue around the heart and squeezing it and if the virus was left untreated it would continue eventually causing the heart itself to become hardened. Sin, unbelief, disobedience in our lives are like that virus. Left unchecked they will work to cause great harm to our hearts.

The good news was that the treatment of this condition which was affecting my husbands’s heart was so simple. It was a little tablet which you could buy cheaply and easily from any pharmacy, an anti-inflammatory tablet. It would quickly break down the effects caused by the virus. Praise God it soon did and my husband quickly recovered.

The same is true for us. The hardening of our hearts can be healed through humbling ourselves, confessing our sins before God, repentance and the cleansing of our hearts by the washing of the Word and the blood of Jesus. We become restored and healed. Our hearts are cleansed and softened.

I pray that you will be encouraged and challenged today. That you hear His voice and respond to God. Have a blessed day. Scriptures posted below for ease.

“Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says: “Today, if you will hear His voice, Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion, In the day of trial in the wilderness, Where your fathers tested Me, tried Me, And saw My works forty years.

Therefore I was angry with that generation, And said, ‘They always go astray in their heart, And they have not known My ways.’ So I swore in My wrath, ‘They shall not enter My rest.’ ”

Beware, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief in departing from the living God; but exhort one another daily, while it is called “Today,” lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.

For we have become partakers of Christ if we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast to the end, while it is said: “Today, if you will hear His voice, Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion.”

“Oh come, let us worship and bow down; Let us kneel before the Lord our Maker. For He is our God, And we are the people of His pasture, And the sheep of His hand. Today, if you will hear His voice: “Do not harden your hearts, as in the rebellion, As in the day of trial in the wilderness, When your fathers tested Me; They tried Me, though they saw My work. “Psalm 95:6-9

“For who, having heard, rebelled? Indeed, was it not all who came out of Egypt, led by Moses? Now with whom was He angry forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, whose corpses fell in the wilderness? And to whom did He swear that they would not enter His rest, but to those who did not obey? So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief. “Hebrews 3:7-19

“But Jesus, being aware of it, said to them, “Why do you reason because you have no bread? Do you not yet perceive nor understand? Is your heart still hardened? Having eyes, do you not see? And having ears, do you not hear? And do you not remember?
Mark 8:17-18 –

Christ in our hearts. The King of Glory

Always check the power supply…

These were the words of the electrician as he left our house last week. Wise words indeed on more than one level.

The problem had started on the Tuesday evening. I went into the kitchen to find my oven’s digital display was blank. Nothing. I turned the controls and nothing came on. Mmmm

I called my husband and showed him. He looked blank too…

We went into the garage and checked the fuse box. Nothing had tripped out but we shut off the power and out it back on. Nothing, still blank… we decided to call in an expert but they couldn’t come until Saturday. We told them the problem over the phone and they gave us the worst possible scenarios. I was starting to think there would be no roast turkey this year.

I was in the middle of preparing my preach for the Sunday service and the text was from the gospel of Mark chapter 6: the Miracle of the feeding of the five thousand. I was thinking Lord this is ironic. My oven isn’t working and I’m preaching about feeding people.

The Lord had already laid the verses “you give them something to eat” as the focus for my teaching. The Lord is speaking those same words to us, His disciples, today. Jesus wants us, his body, to meet the needs around us through Him and the power of the Holy Spirit working through us. That good works have already been prepared in advance by God for each one of us to discover and one day we will give an account to Him.

As I had been preparing, the Lord had been saying to me “more of my Spirit” so my teaching was centring around the Holy Spirit and being filled with the Spirit and being led by the Spirit.

Well, getting back to my oven. As I said we had checked the fuse boxes in the garage and my husband had also checked the cupboard above the oven, as I remembered there was a switch there too. The cupboard has lots of pans etc. but my husband looked and confirmed the switch was on.

On the Saturday morning the electrician arrived. He went in the garage, he looked in the over head cupboard, he flicked on a switch and bam, the oven came to life. He left with the helpful words “always check the power supply “!

You see next to the switch in the cupboard was also another switch which had been hidden from my husband’s view. There were actually two switches and both needed to be on. One was not enough.

The Lord is always teaching us something, especially through the every day bits of life. You see we can all do “work” in our own strength (I’ve been there) but to be fully effective for the work God calls us to do I believe we need the Holy Spirit flowing in and through us. A conduit of His gifts, His fruit, His power. We need to check our power supply and be connected to the One True Source of all love, grace, mercy, power, knowledge, wisdom….the list goes on. If we are, then in faith there is the potential for God’s miraculous provision to be revealed.

May God bless you richly today and may the eyes of your heart be opened to the hope of your calling in Him, Jesus Christ the Lord of all. My Shepherd..true riches

From my dear friend Heather:

The Lord woke me early with the words: “Stay close to the shepherd”. I immediately thought of Psalm 23. I had only read the first two lines and that was when He stopped me.

“The Lord is MY shepherd I shall not want”

He said I am YOUR shepherd.

He is not just a shepherd. He is The loving shepherd who wants to be intimately involved in everything in our lives. The shepherd tends, cares for all the needs of his flock, they are precious to him. He knows when one is hurting, injured, tangled up or going astray. (You get the picture)

He goes after them and they know His comforting voice, the voice of safety, strength and wisdom. (The voice of true love.)

When we are close to Him we can hear that voice for us. Sometimes He wants us to rest and heal from our wounds. Sometimes, He wants to lead us to pastures new for new feeding.

Yes, my friends stay close to YOUR shepherd.

“I shall not want”. I personally have had riches and lost riches. The Lord gave a scripture many years ago:

“Joel 2v25 “ I will restore to you all the years the locusts have eaten”.

I believed it would be in material things. I have come to realise the riches in Christ are love, joy, peace, hope, faith, wisdom, power and strength and many more.

They are all free and plenty of them in Gods store house for you and me. We shall not want. He will provide.

Isaiah 55 v 1 “ COME to the waters, drink, eat and be full without money” It’s all free just surrender and receive the blessings.

Many are struggling , hurting scared and lost at this time. Let’s be shepherds where we can. Let’s stay close to the flock and close to OUR shepherd where we will hear His voice.

“I am yours and you are mine”.

Thank you God bless. Heather

He is the Good Shepherd
