Right but not right?

Hi everyone, I hope you are all having a good weekend. I just wanted to post some words of wisdom which a friend shared recently.

Our friend had been praying about a difficult situation she had encountered. She had felt justified in her behaviour and the actions she had taken. However, as she prayed about the course of events the Lord convicted her that although what she did was “right” her attitude towards it had been bad. Wow.

Those words really hit home to my friend. She had done the right thing but her attitude was not right.

How subtle that we can sometimes justify our bad attitudes because we know we have acted right.

Our prayer today. Lord reveal the true condition of our hearts so that we do right in the right way. We thank you for your grace every day and your mercies which are new every morning. Amen 🙏

Gateways of Influence

The Lord has been stirring my heart, and also others I fellowship with, to begin to intercede and pray for our area more intensely at this time. As we have met corporately to pray, we have been reminded of scriptures the Lord has given us for our area and prophetic words released for this region. One of the bible verses we have been reminded of and prayed through is Psalm 24. This is a post I wrote a few years ago about these verses.

Lift up your heads, O you gates! And be lifted up, you everlasting doors! And the King of glory shall come in. Who is this King of glory? The Lord strong and mighty, The Lord mighty in battle. Lift up your heads, O you gates! Lift up, you everlasting doors! And the King of glory shall come in. Who is this King of glory? The Lord of hosts, He is the King of glory. Selah

Psalm 24:7-10

Psalm 24 encourages us to open the gate and let the King of Glory, that is Jesus, come in.  The one who is strong and mighty and mighty in battle.

Historically, Gates of a city were important places of influence and decision making. The elders gathered at the gates of the city to discuss and make decisions.

Gates are opened to allow access or shut to refuse entry. This can be for protection and safety. Whoever enters through the gate brings their influence and authority with them.

We all have gateways into our lives and minds.  Every day we make decisions to permit or refuse things to operate in our lives and indwell our thoughts whether for good or bad.

There are gateways for influence in my home, my family, my work place, my town, my region and I want them to be opened for Christ and closed to evil influences.

Not just a little bit open for Jesus but flung wide open.

I encourage you to make a decision to swing wide the gate and let the King of Glory come into your situation whatever it is and wherever He needs to be.  Trust Jesus to help you overcome and strengthen you by the same power that raised Christ Jesus from the dead and brings freedom.

I believe there is power in prayer when believers come together in unity from different churches to pray about the gateways of influence in their town. The local churches in our area did this for a season as God led us to pray at various gateways within the town.    We saw incredible answers to prayer and signs.

At one prayer gathering, we stood on a bridge over the river Stour which flows into and through our town.   As we prayed, one of our group felt that we should all join hands and sing the words of the song “Swing wide the gate and let the King Come in” which is based on the verses in Psalm 24.

As we sang the two people in the middle of the chain would break hands and walk apart as a prophetic sign that we were opening the gate over our town to the Lord.

As we did this and moved apart we looked down and an actual wooden gate was floating in the river and floated right underneath the bridge.    We couldn’t believe our eyes at the time.

The fact that a whole gate was floating down the river and that it passed just at that exact time we broke apart we believe was a heavenly sign from God.  God had heard our prayers for our town and was showing us that the gate was opened.

We are trusting God to bring that river of His presence into and to overflow through us in Christ Jesus, his body of believers, so that we can proclaim the good news of the gospel of Jesus the King, bring His healing and restoring power to not only our town, but our region and nation.    I encourage you to pray and believe for the same.

Have a blessed day.

God’s love which disciplines

Morning everyone. I wanted to share this post again about God’s love which also disciplines and corrects us for our own good. We generally don’t enjoy being corrected but it’s necessary for growth and produces change for the better in us.

We often listen to and sing songs about God’s love for us, how overwhelming and awesome it is. Sometimes we need a fresh understanding of His love otherwise we expect it to be a feel good, warm feeling all the time but as we know God’s love also disciplines us and corrects us when we need it.

The bible tells us that we know we are his children because he disciplines us. God’s love expressed itself in the purest way when Christ died on the Cross for us and it requires us to bring death to our flesh. It can even require some things in our lives to be cut off, wither and die. God’s love will discipline and corrects us when we need it. Hebrews 12 v 3-11 tells us this.

For consider Him who endured such hostility from sinners against Himself, lest you become weary and discouraged in your souls. You have not yet resisted to bloodshed, striving against sin. And you have forgotten the exhortation which speaks to you as to sons: “My son, do not despise the chastening of the Lord, Nor be discouraged when you are rebuked by Him; For whom the Lord loves He chastens, And scourges every son whom He receives.” If you endure chastening, God deals with you as with sons; for what son is there whom a father does not chasten? But if you are without chastening, of which all have become partakers, then you are illegitimate and not sons. Furthermore, we have had human fathers who corrected us, and we paid them respect. Shall we not much more readily be in subjection to the Father of spirits and live? For they indeed for a few days chastened us as seemed best to them, but He for our profit, that we may be partakers of His holiness. Now no chastening seems to be joyful for the present, but painful; nevertheless, afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.”

When we are going through a time of correction and discipline it can be painful, uncomfortable, frustrating and doesn’t feel good. We can be confused, discouraged and start to think all sorts of wrong things and can lose our way. We need to discern God’s hand at work. This is really key otherwise we can think mistakenly it’s the work of the enemy in our lives or that we are out of God’s Will when in fact you could be right where the Lord wants you to be.

If you are going through such a process the please don’t be discouraged and don’t try to short cut the process otherwise as the Apostle Paul tells us we will miss the fruit of righteousness that this process will produce in us.

I believe the Lord wants to encourage us all today. If you are in a difficult season then you may be experiencing God’s love being expressed in this way.

Pray and ask God to reveal to you what is happening in your life. If you are going through a period of discipline or pruning then hold on firm to the truth. Reject any lie that says if God loved you then you wouldn’t be feeling like this or going through this. God is love and He loves you. You are His child.

Submit to God and let Him bring His good work in you to fruition so that you can grow and mature in your faith. Hold on fast to the truth which is the Word of God and don’t be swayed by feelings or what is happening around you.

Ask other christians to support you in prayer during this time.

Strengthen yourself in God and in His Word.

Have a blessed day my friends

Family Time

Morning friends and welcome to the weekend. I had a different post for this morning but I think the Lord had other ideas so I have put it back into drafts for another day. This week for me has been a hard one at work with lots of challenges and I’m sure there are some other readers out there who may be thinking the same. I’m really glad to have this weekend to rest and recharge my batteries. The Lord certainly knows that we need to have time to come away and rest.

The weekend for me is a break from the demands of work, it’s precious family time and I also look forward to fellowshipping with my church family on Sunday.

“I rejoiced with those who said to me,
“Let us go to the house of the Lord.”

Psalm 122: 1

These bible verses came to me this morning as I was meditating and spending time with the Lord. I thought yes, that is how I feel when I go to join my church family. I’m joyful. I’m excited and expectant. I’m really happy to be with them for lots of reasons. Not only because they love, encourage, bless me and strengthen me but I am blessed by our times of corporate praise & worship and prayer. I not only receive but I also have the opportunity to serve. Giving and Receiving.

The preaching is also excellent – Our pastor has started a new series on Romans and the teaching is edifying and it is Christ Centred with a focus on Discovery, Discipleship and Declare. We are on a journey together to discover God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit and our story in His story (the Bible), to be discipled and grow in the Word, firmly rooted in sound Christian doctrine and then to declare – share our testimony and faith with others.

Now you may be reading this and thinking that is not what I feel about Church family. I can understand that because at one stage in my life I felt like that too. I was so badly hurt by “Church” that I vowed that I would never step foot in a church again. I never lost my faith in God but I spent 12 years in a wilderness until the Lord drew me back to a loving church family. I repented and broke that vow off my life because I realised that I had been deceived and robbed of such a beautiful gift of fellowship.

Now I could have justified my behaviour and stayed in that wilderness. No doubt I could also have found people with the same or worst experiences and we would have reinforced in each other that justification for never going to Church again. The Lord knew my experiences and how I had been hurt. However, God also knew the plans He had for me and it wasn’t to leave me in that wilderness. God loved me too much for that and He loves you as well. God healed my hurts and led me to the right fellowship of believers.

The Lord knows today how you have been hurt too. He healed me and He can heal you too. I pray today that the Lord will speak into your heart, bring release and healing to the pain so that you can once again find believers who will help you start on a journey of fellowship again.

If this speaks to you then take it slowly is my advice. One step at a time. It doesn’t have to be anything big or overwhelming to start the journey back. It could be a small step to connect with a fellow believer – the Lord puts us in families for our benefit. I believe the Lord has the right family for you and I pray that the Holy Spirit will lead you and bring you into that family. I just really believe it’s time to move from that place of wilderness to a place of family. Making the heart decision to ask the Lord to lead you to the right family for you will be the start that is needed.

Bless you today my friends.

We all need a helping hand

Are you Hungry? Feed on Him

I shared a vision of Jesus that I had on Saturday in my post Fresh Bread and this reminded me of another word which I had received from the Lord in 2018. I wanted to share the post again because of what the Lord has been impressing on me recently. I hope it blesses you.

This is what I heard the Lord Jesus say to me:

“I am the bread of Life.   Whoever eats and drinks of Me will never hunger and thirst again.

Some of My people are happy to feed on the crumbs from the table and the drips of My presence.  I died so that they could feast on Me.

There is everything laid up in My Kingdom -the resources of heaven which are available to My people if they would only believe.”

I believe that the The Lord is saying- stop feeding on the crumbs and being satisfied with those.   There is so much more of Me available says the Lord.  Come and feast at My table.  Realise that you are hungry.  Stir up the hunger within you and do not be satisfied with the crumbs.

Come and feast at My table says the Lord.

I have set a banqueting table before you – Come and eat and drink.  There is everything available in Me.

Why do you eat things which cannot satisfy you?  Why do you drink things which cannot satisfy you?   Eat and drink of Me.  The fullness of Me.

Every part of Me is available to you.  My love, My truth, My grace, My Freedom, My power, My Authority.  It is all freely available to you.   As you freely receive then freely give.   Give without limits – pressed down abundant giving – for out of giving more then more can be received and overflow.

Let the oil of My presence freely flow through you.  The oil comes from refining through My spirit.  Let Me flow through you.  Do not turn the tap off.   Blessings to all My children, Blessings.

The words of Isaiah 55 came to mind.

Ho Everyone who thirsts, Come to the waters: Any of you who have no money, Come buy and eat.  Yes come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.  Why do you spend money for what is not bread and your wages for what does not satisfy.  Listen carefully to Me and eat what is good, And let your soul delight itself in abundance.”

I remember our Pastor talking about the nativity scene and what did we see when we looked at the picture.   He saw Jesus lying in the manger and this was significant to him.  He said Jesus is in the manger for a reason.

The manger was the place of feeding for the animals- the French word “manger” means to eat and comes from the same root word.   Jesus is in the manger because He is our spiritual bread and we all need to feed on Christ.   He is our spiritual food.   He is the gift of God freely given to us.

Have a blessed day my friends.

God is the Most High

Today’s prayer post is about EL ELYON which is translated as THE MOST HIGH GOD.

In Genesis 14:18 God is revealed as EL ELYON – The Most High.

Then Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine; he was the priest of God Most High. And he blessed him and said: “Blessed be Abram of God Most High, Possessor of heaven and earth; And blessed be God Most High, Who has delivered your enemies into your hand.” And he gave him a tithe of all.” Genesis 14:18-20

Abram had just returned from battle and rescuing Lot and his family who had been taken captive. It was the God Most High who gave Abram victory and restored everything which had been stolen back to Abram. This is an important truth. God Most High sets captives free and restores what the enemy has stolen. Hallelujah!

Isaiah the Prophet encountered God Most High when things were not going well. The King had died and the people were not honouring or obeying God. It was then that God revealed himself and Isaiah saw God high and lifted up. He received a different perspective. This is what Isaiah describes:

In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted up, and the train of His robe filled the temple. Above it stood seraphim; each one had six wings: with two he covered his face, with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. And one cried to another and said: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; The whole earth is full of His glory!” And the posts of the door were shaken by the voice of him who cried out, and the house was filled with smoke.”
Isaiah 6:1-4

Sometimes when we are at our lowest, in a place of despair or grieved in heart, we need that fresh revelation of the God Most High. We raise our heads, look up and see God in the Highest place. It give us renewed hope, strength and confidence. The Most High is on our side.

If you are feeling oppressed or under spiritual attack or are praying for someone who is, then I believe this is to encourage you today. God the Most High is sovereign over you, over those you are praying for and He is higher than all circumstances and situations. I am reminded of these bible verses:

“So shall they fear The name of the Lord from the west, And His glory from the rising of the sun; When the enemy comes in like a flood, The Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against him.”
Isaiah 59:19

To those who were conspiring and scheming against Israel, David’s prayer was:

That they may know that You, whose name alone is the Lord, Are the Most High over all the earth.” Psalm 83:18

We take confidence that Jesus our Saviour, who lives to make intercession for us, has been exalted to the right hand of God. He is seated at the right hand of the Father. Jesus’ name is above all others.

Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name” Philippians 2:9

We come in prayer today to EL ELYON, the Most High God.

In the name of our God We will set up our banners: The Lord fulfil all your petitions“ Psalm 20:5

Dear God our Father in heaven, you alone are El Elyon. Open the eyes of our hearts today so that we see you high and lifted up. We long to see your glory, your majesty, your throne and power. Open our eyes to see your son Jesus Christ who you have raised to the highest place and given all authority and power. We acknowledge that Jesus has the name above all names. Lord we humble ourselves under your mighty hand today. We acknowledge that there is none higher than you. You alone are worthy of all praise, honour and glory. Lord we are in your hands and there is nowhere else that we are safer. You are our refuge. Deliver us from the evil one and make your name known to our enemies. Raise up your standard over us. Restore to us what the enemy has stolen especially we pray for those whose peace, hope and joy has been stolen. May they see you today Lord, high and lifted up. Restore unto them the joy of their salvation. Be their strength today. Amen

Fresh Bread

Whilst worshipping today I had a vision of Jesus. It was so beautiful that I started crying. The Lord was seated behind a long table. He had his arms outstretched to the side as wide as possible and his face was gentle and welcoming. He was looking straight at me. I couldn’t see the end of the table on either side as it was so long but I knew that Jesus was seated at the middle of the table. The table was empty other than a beautiful white tablecloth that covered it. This puzzled me but then I understood. I believe that the Lord was saying in this vision that He wants and invites us to come to His table daily for fresh bread. We cannot live on yesterday’s crumbs or yesterday’s bread or last week or last year’s storehouses. The Lord has fresh bread for us every day and not just enough for us but also to share with others. The Lord will use us to nourish others. He is the Lord of provision and multiplication.

The righteous eats to the satisfying of his soul
Proverbs 13:25

Is it not to share your bread with the hungry, And that you bring to your house the poor who are cast out; When you see the naked, that you cover him, And not hide yourself from your own flesh? Then your light shall break forth like the morning, Your healing shall spring forth speedily, And your righteousness shall go before you; The glory of the Lord shall be your rear guard.”
Isaiah 58:7-8

But He said to them, “You give them something to eat.” And they said, “We have no more than five loaves and two fish, unless we go and buy food for all these people.” For there were about five thousand men. Then He said to His disciples, “Make them sit down in groups of fifty.” And they did so, and made them all sit down. Then He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, He blessed and broke them, and gave them to the disciples to set before the multitude. So they all ate and were filled, and twelve baskets of the leftover fragments were taken up by them.
Luke 9:13-17

God’s Voice is Powerful

There are lots of voices clamouring to be heard. Trying to influence us. Lots of voices with differing opinions. Lots of voices which tell us untruths, particularly in the media, but the Bible tells us that God’s voice is powerful, full of majesty and can shake the wilderness and strip the forest bare -Psalm 29.

The voice of the Lord is “over the waters” and when the “floods have lifted up their voice” then we need to remember that “the Lord on high is mightier than the noise of many waters, than the mighty waves of the sea” -Psalm 93.

Whichever voice or voices are currently raised or rising up against you or trying to come against you today- whether it is the voices of doubt, unbelief, confusion, accusation, lies, manipulation, intimidation, threats, bullying then disarm them with the truth from the Bible, declare the Word which is powerful, living and mighty into that situation.

Let it be the Voice of God that speaks to you and answers you.

When Jesus was out on the lake with his disciples and the wind and waves rose up in a fierce and violent storm, the disciples thought they would die. Jesus stood up and rebuked the wind and said to the Sea “Peace, be still“.   Immediately the wind & waves were still.

The voice of Jesus was more powerful than the wind & the waves and was truly “over the waters“.

You may be facing or in a storm today but let it be God’s voice that powerfully speaks to the storm and not the voice of fear or doubt.

The Lord will bless you with His peace in the midst of the storm.

This is a reworking of one of the early posts which I wrote on this blog in 2018 when I started writing. I hope it has blessed and encouraged someone today.

Have a blessed day my friends.

Then…

Then is such a little word but it is can be so powerful. It’s a word which speaks of change. There is a before and THEN something happens which changes the story.

In Genesis, we read the story of Noah. The flood has come upon the earth and Noah, his family and the animals are in the ark. They obeyed God’s instructions and went into the Ark and then God shut the door.

“So those that entered, male and female of all flesh, went in as God had commanded him; and the Lord shut him in.”
Genesis 7:16 NKJV

It was after obedience that the THEN came and God shut the door. Sometimes, we are waiting for God to act and the THEN to happen but we maybe haven’t done our part to enable the THEN. Something at our end needs to change.

Dear brother Alan posted the other day about prayer warriors still being required. You can read that post here which I recommend if you have not yet read it. https://devotionaltreasure.wordpress.com/2021/12/31/2022-prayer-warriors-still-required.

There is an often quoted portion of scripture which contains one of the most powerful THENs in the bible.

If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
2 Chronicles 7:14 NKJV

Prayer changes things and brings about the THEN. If we want to see change then let us seek God’s Will and act on it. Let us be Prayer Warriors for change.

Bless you my friends.

Action Stations!

Happy New Year to all of you. May you be blessed with the peace of God. As I have been praying today and asking the Lord about the coming New Year, these are the words that I heard in my spirit – Action Stations!

Action Stations – it’s the command that is used to tell everyone to get ready immediately to do the particular jobs that they have been given to do. Ready for Action.

Everyone has an assigned role and is prepared, ready, confident to play their part and equipped ready for action. Committed to the common cause at hand once the signal for action is given. Everyone ready to do their part when called upon to act or when they see the need to act. Soldiers ready to go into battle. Sound familiar.

So I believe that is what the Lord wants me to hear today – Get ready Nicola – Action Stations. I also believe that is what the Lord wants us to hear today – Get ready my children – Action Stations.

As I listened to what the Lord was speaking to my heart today – I wrote down the following. Please read, pray and test and hold onto the good and Godly and discard whatever does not sit well with you. This is what I heard.

My Children have been in a season of preparation but now it is the time to take Action Stations. To be in position, prepared and ready to move on My command and in My timing.

This is the time to listen carefully and act on My Rhema Word that I decree. As I spoke to the churches in Revelation so will My Holy Word come through the Spirit of God to bring direction and clear guidance to My people.

This is the time to be equipped and ready My children so that you are not deceived and led astray by the evil one. His days are short as he knows and he will try to deceive, distract and cause you to stumble but My power, My anointing will be on you so that you will overcome by the power of your testimony and that you will lay down to surrender all to Me. Fully surrendered and prepared. Rooted in Me, Rooted in My Word and nourished and fed by My Holy Word, My Bread – the bread of life.

You will hear me very clearly My children. Those who are prepared for action will spring into action – They are ready.

Those of you who are not ready – hearken to My voice. Be ready. For you know not what hour the Master will come so be prepared for action. Be ready when I send you out to do all that I have for you to do.

Know the day of Action is just ahead – you will be called to Action. None who have My name upon them will be left out or overlooked. All will hear the call to Action. The trumpet will sound and all will hear who bear My name.

Take up your Action Station and Be ready to respond to Me. Amen.

The Lord then brought these bible verses to mind:

Matthew 25:13 “Watch, therefore for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming”.

Revelation 3 2-3: “Be watchful and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die, for I have not found your works perfect before God. Remember therefore how you have received and heard, hold fast and repent. Therefore, if you will not watch I will come upon you as a thief and you will not know what hour I will come upon you”.

Jude 1:24 “Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy”

Isaiah 55:2 “Listen carefully to Me and eat what is good and let your soul delight itself in abundance”.

Blessings to you in Jesus name.
