“Their wings touched one another. The creatures did not turn when they went, but each one went straight forward.” Ezekiel 1:9 NKJV
Ezekiel’s vision of God’s Holy throne and the creatures and the wheels are an amazing image.
The creatures he saw did not turn but went straight ahead…straight like the arrow of truth. No turning but direct in their purpose.
“As for the likeness of their faces, each had the face of a man; each of the four had the face of a lion on the right side, each of the four had the face of an ox on the left side, and each of the four had the face of an eagle.” Ezekiel 1:10 NKJV
Each creature has four faces which remind me that in contending for God’s truth.
We need the courage and boldness of the lion;
the strength, perseverance and endurance of the ox in the face of opposition;
the ability to see clearly and with complete focus like an eagle; and
The face of man which is our humanity, empathy and the ability to listen and bring truth with grace and love.
“And each one went straight forward; they went wherever the spirit wanted to go, and they did not turn when they went.”
Ezekiel 1:12 NKJV
The creatures went without turning wherever the Holy Spirit wanted to go.
Lead us Holy Spirit lead us. May we too follow where you lead in obedience without turning.
“As for the likeness of the living creatures, their appearance was like burning coals of fire, like the appearance of torches going back and forth among the living creatures. The fire was bright, and out of the fire went lightning.” Ezekiel 1:13 NKJV
May we also burn bright for the Lord as we carry the pure flame of God’s truth, setting fire to other coals as we go. Little bits of kindling that will set a holy fire wherever we go.
“When they moved, they went toward any one of four directions; they did not turn aside when they went.” Ezekiel 1:17 NKJV
May we too have straight feet, not turning aside from God’s path of truth and righteousness. Not ignoring and turning a blind eye to falsehood and deception or following the wrong path into a trap of deception.
