Seeing but not seeing..Re-Focus

Continuing today my series on seeing but not seeing.

Today..What is in our line of Sight.

Sometimes, we do not see clearly because there is something else in the way which is taking our focus.

I’m going to call it a Blot on the Landscape of our vision.

There is something or perhaps someone obscuring our view of God.

It could be really large (really dominating/blocking out the view) – so large it fills my thoughts and I can’t see God – like Goliath the giant – all the Israelites could see was the giant.

Goliath consumed their vision and reduced them to fear and inaction but not David – his eyes were fixed on God.

It could also be something small – really small, annoyingly small but it diverts and distracts our attention away from what we really should be focusing on.

It’s an annoyance…a little bug that gets in my focus annoying me and keeps diverting me away.

Is there something filling our view – when we should be seeing God on the throne.

Is there something or someone taking our attention from God.

Is there something distracting us from seeing God as God truly is.

Is there something or someone deceiving us from seeing God in our situation.

Is there something or someone we are too focused on – it seems a good thing but it’s not God.

Going to call these our “idols”.

So instead of seeing God who has been there all along… we are looking in the wrong places for answers or we are distracted from seeing God.

Is there something or someone blocking our vision or distracting us from God today – taking our focus off and away from God.

Do we need to re-focus our Sight.

Is this the day to re-focus.

Time to move our eyes, our line of sight and fix our eyes on Jesus.

To see Jesus high and lifted up, seated at the right hand of the Father’s throne with all authority and power, crowned with many crowns. All power, All honour, All wisdom, All might, All strength, All wealth given into His hand.

He is our mighty God.

What a view! And the same holds true for our spiritual view, like you said. Let’s remove those blots! (Going to get my window squeege!)

Thank you for sharing this post Nicola – I certainly need to stop and look often, checking my direction and focus. The world and the evil one always tries to distract us from serving God. May we be found following our Shepherd’s footsteps each day. God bless you and your family today sister 🙏
