It’s wonderful to witness moments of reunion between those who have been apart. The joy on their faces as they rush in with open arms to be embraced by love, standing tight together cocooned in the joy of reunion.
It’s painful when we are kept apart from those we love..our family or friends. We miss them. We feel their loss.
This story is not my story but it’s part of God’s story who works faithfully in ways we don’t see or understand that I hope will bless you and encourage you today.
I have journeyed with Christian friends who are like second family to me now over many years.
When I first met them it was in tragic circumstances of losing their son to cancer. To add to their pain in losing their son they also lost contact with their young grandchild. Over the years they were kept from seeing and having any contact with them and that was very painful for them.
We prayed many times to the Lord for this situation and for the Lord to make a way for them to be reunited despite the opposition and what seemed an impossible situation.
It was many years and that young child became an adult and a desire grew in them to find their grandparents. They went looking and found them. Praise God.
Eventually those prayers were answered and my friends were reunited with their grandchild. The joy of that reunion and knowing and seeing them together was a beautiful thing.
That is not the end of the story though..God was still at work in His plan of reunion.
I heard the news last week that the grandchild had come to faith in Jesus and been baptised and all the family went to see and be there for the baptism. There were photos of them all together looking so joyful.
That declaration of faith in Jesus and baptism was the testimony of the greatest reunion of all..
This child of God now reunited with their Heavenly Father through the work of the cross of Jesus, His death and resurrection bringing new life.
Now part of the family of God.
Reunited fully and completely in Christ Jesus our Lord.
God is faithful and as the parable of the prodigal son teaches us, longs for us to be reunited with Him. The forgiving Father with open arms to accept us.
God is there to be found by those who will seek for Him.
Do not lose heart but keep praying for the lost to be reunited with their Heavenly Father and that a desire will start to grow in their hearts to find Him.
If you are in a similar family situation to my friends, longing to be reunited with a lost family member or one estranged from you then I pray that God will make a way for you too. May the grace of God, His love, His mercy and His forgiveness make a way in whatever the situation or circumstances are.
The Lord can make a way and change impossible situations.
As my dear friend reminded me this week..nothing is impossible for God.
