The big day arrives..

I love today in the calendar because it signals the start of our church weekend away.

It’s a time when for the next few days we can gather as a church family to eat, pray, worship, learn and hear what the Lord is saying to us, individually and collectively.

It’s a time of fellowship and fun, reminding us that we are truly not alone but part of a bigger family.

This year we are leaning into what our “future shape” will look like.

How does God want to mould us and use us in the next season of our church.

I am heading off later today after work with a sense of expectation and excitement.

It also helps that the location is in a beautiful part of Wales with the mountains around us. You can’t help but marvel at our wonderful creator when surrounded by such beauty. The green, green hills of Wales.

I’m intending to enjoy the journey there as well..that’s become a realisation for me over the years. Enjoy the journey.

We know the destination and what awaits and I can’t wait to get there, but I want to enjoy the journey with my two friends and not miss things along the way.

It’s good to travel the road there together much like our Christian walk. The reminder that we are a family united in One Lord, One Faith, One Spirit. We don’t travel this road of faith alone as we are surrounded by a great host of witnesses willing us on.

We all can’t be there this year. There will be folks missing for various reasons. We will miss their fellowship but will hold them in our hearts and prayers ready and willing to share what we receive when we return. We are blessed to be a blessing.

FOMO- fear of missing out is a big thing these days and can create this unhealthy desire in us. The wonderful news is that we won’t miss out on what the Lord is calling us to if we are faithful to follow Him. He leads us along paths of righteousness for His name’s sake. If you find yourself stressing that you can’t get to this or that meeting or convention or conference then relax. God knows and God has a plan which is unique for you. Seek Him and you will find Him.

For some reading you may find this post a sad or a painful reminder because it is not been your experience but I want you to know today that you are not alone. You may feel isolated, disconnected and lonely but there is a God who loves you and longs to connect with you in a personal relationship and a loving family of God waiting to embrace and welcome you. I pray that you find them.

The phrase “enjoy the journey ” stuck in my mind from your post this morning; our daily walk with God is an important journey, one that we should enjoy, even when climbing steep hills or traversing grassy meadow valleys. Thank you! May our Father God guide and bless you and your family in Christ on your journey to meet with Him in Wales 🙏

Thank you Alan. I think I’m learning this more and more. The Christian faith is a lot about the journey my dear brother in Christ and those we learn from and also influence along the way.
