Family..a sense of belonging

After a long 7 hour drive south from the Pas de Calais, across the northern coast of Normandy and into Brittany we have reached our family.

We had planned to stop over and see them en route to the Loire Valley for a few days but we will stay the rest of the week here as we will need help to get home as the van cannot be repaired.

Sadly, no garage here will accept the camper van. We think it is because it is a specialist import vehicle from Japan. There are not many on the road in the UK and we haven’t seen any at all here in France. We will need to buy a Renault or Peugeot van next time 🤣

It made me realise when we arrived how grateful I am for our family and how we immediately felt at home. We could relax and be spoilt! (for a bit at least)

As brothers and sister in Christ we are one family, united and adopted into God’s family of believers. I am very grateful and appreciative of all the support, encouragement and help that I receive from my family whether blood related or spiritually related.

It wasn’t long before we have been put to work helping with the cows and making cream, ice cream and cheese. It’s certainly a different holiday to the one we planned but we learn to expect the unexpected.

Time for milking
Love this little calves face
Feeding time for the little ones
Separating the milk to make cream
Ready to go home

My husband’s parents are arriving here on the ferry from Plymouth to Roscoff in two days time. What amazing timing thank you Lord. They had planned to come in May but couldn’t and re-arranged for this week. Excellent timing for us. We are hoping that we can book to come back with them on the ferry in their car to Plymouth and then pick up a hire car to get home.

We would have taken the ferry as foot passengers but you need a car to take the dog. This is the plan so I will let you know if it all comes together. In the meantime we will enjoy time with our family in this lovely spot.

You two are such resilient travelers. I think I might have become a nervous wreck if I’d been through what you have. Here’s to a safe trip back home; thank you, Lord for family!

Hi David thanks for those kind words. My husband used to say that I’m the worst traveller because I always wanted things to be planned to the smallest detail and if it didn’t turn out that way I’d get stressed and upset. I can see how much I’ve changed over the years and learnt to lean into God and what He’s taught me in these couple of weeks. I think my family have been surprised too that no tears or upset 🙏
