It’s difficult to accept sometimes that the answer to something we want or ask is No.
When we really, really want something but still the answer is No.
There is no amount of persuasive arguments, pleading and cajoling that is going to change the outcome.
The answer is still No.
Moses pleaded and asked the Lord to relent His decision and allow Him to cross into the promised land but the answer was No and the Lord was not going to change His mind.
“But the Lord was angry with me because of you [and your rebellion at Meribah], and would not listen to me; and the Lord said to me, ‘Enough! Speak to Me no longer about this matter.” Deut 3.26 AMP
I am sure Moses was extremely disappointed that he would not be able to travel further on the journey and cross into the Promised Land but he also knew that God’s decision was fair because of his previous disobedience.
Moses also knew though that God is a merciful God and with that in mind kept his requests before God until God said, Enough..stop asking because the answer is still going to be No.
Learning to understand when God says No to our requests and to trust God that He is working in our lives for the best outcome for us is all part of our relationship and faith journey. Growing in our knowledge and understanding of God as our Father in heaven.
It’s not easy and we must guard our hearts against disappointment and being deluded or seduced by a sense of entitlement and remain rooted and grounded in the knowledge that we are loved beyond measure and that God is a good, good God.
Moses was blessed beyond measure because he may not have crossed over into the promised land but he did get to see Jesus the Christ, the promised Redeemer of all people who would lead us all through faith in Him into the fulness of God’s promises through God’s mercy and grace. He met God’s redemption face to face.
“Now after six days Jesus took Peter, James, and John, and led them up on a high mountain apart by themselves; and He was transfigured before them. His clothes became shining, exceedingly white, like snow, such as no launderer on earth can whiten them. And Elijah appeared to them with Moses, and they were talking with Jesus.”
Mark.9.2-4 NKJV
