The Apple of His Eye..a re-post

A Valentine’s Day post.

I heard these words very clearly in my spirit from the Lord “you are the apple of My eye”.

I’m sure most of us have heard this saying. It means something or someone cherished above all others.

At the end of his life, Moses was preparing the Israelites for the next part of their journey under a new leader, Joshua.

Moses wanted to reassure the Israelites as they prepared to cross into a new territory, the promised land, that the Lord was going before them. God was going to be with them and would not leave them or forsake them. Moses encouraged them not to be afraid of what was ahead or their enemies who would be against them.

The Lord himself gave Moses a song for the people. God knew that even with the law and written testimony, the Israelites would be unfaithful to Him and the song was a reminder and witness to them that even when they forgot God and provoked Him to anger that they were still “the apple of His eye”.

God would not completely cast the Israelites away and would restore them and in time, as prophesied, a Saviour for all the world, Jesus, would come from them.

For the Lord’s portion is His people; Jacob is the place of His inheritance. He found him in a desert land and in the wasteland, a howling wilderness; He encircled him, He instructed him, He kept him as the apple of His eye. Deuteronomy 32:10

That was also our experience before Jesus found us and brought us into the family of God. We were lost and wandering. Now we are part of God’s family under His guidance, His protection, enfolded in His loving arms and we are all “the apple of His eye”.

David says the same in this Psalm:

I have called upon You, for You will hear me, O God; Incline Your ear to me, and hear my speech. Show Your marvelous lovingkindness by Your right hand, O You who save those who trust in You from those who rise up against them. Keep me as the apple of Your eye; Hide me under the shadow of Your wings from the wicked who oppress me. From my deadly enemies who surround me. Psalm 17:6-9

Whoever comes against you also comes against the Lord himself. For thus says the Lord of hosts: “He sent Me after glory, to the nations which plunder you; for he who touches you touches the apple of His eye. Zechariah 2:8

The Lord wants to reassure us that whatever troubles or hardships we are going through or are still to come our way in this world that He is with us. He will not abandon us. He loves us and God wants to remind us all that we are the apple of His eye.

We are cherished by Him and are so precious to Him.

Let us remain faithful to God through all things, good and bad, and testify to His goodness.

Let us not wander from His teachings or His paths or put our trust in other things. Let us keep our eyes fixed on Him.

Keep my commands and live, And my law as the apple of your eye.
Proverbs 7:2

Have a blessed day and I pray that you too will hear the Lord saying over you today “You are the apple of My eye”. “My cherished ones.”

For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as the Lord does the church.” Ephesians 5:25-29

Thank you Lord for your continual love and goodness toward us, your children.
