“Contentment is a feeling of quiet happiness and satisfaction”
The definition of true contentment in the Bible according to the Apostle Paul:
“I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do all this through him who gives me strength” Philippians 4.11-13 NIVUK
When I stopped allowing the world to dictate and deceive me with the false promises of contentment in possessing material things or in self attainment which will never bring true contentment.
I then discovered that the only one who enables us to be truly content in each moment of life with all its ups and downs, it’s joys, it’s sorrows, it’s challenges, its good and bad bits is through faith in Jesus Christ and living each day in the knowledge of God’s love and grace.
Just ask a person who seems to have it all with that bigger house, car, the promotion, the holidays, the wealth, the status, the popularity, the celebrity whether it was really the fulfillment of their dream.
It is never enough…..
When we know this truth let us turn away from the world’s corrupted view of contentment and a false gospel rooted in prosperity which will not bring the true contentment the bible speaks of and turn back to the true gospel which is rooted and found in Jesus and Him alone.
True contentment will never be found in things. It is found in a person.
Jesus.
He is enough.
