A Travelling Gospel..

Here is Grace no.12.

Isn’t she beautiful.

She’s a Wesleyan Home Mission travelling gospel horse drawn car for travelling preachers.

I knew that John Wesley was an itinerant preacher on horseback but I didn’t know about these later gospel mission cars.

I saw Grace No.12 yesterday at The Black Country Living Museum and immediately fell in love with her.

She is no.12 and I wonder how many others have been preserved.

I love the quotes on the side “The Lord give you peace always

Heaven’s light our guide

Blessed are the pure of heart

I am reminded by Grace no.12 that we, who follow Jesus Christ are all “itinerant” preachers and witnesses of the saving power of the gospel every day whether we intend it or not.

Each day as I go about my business, I am a witness for Jesus in what I say, I do and in the things I don’t do.

I am a witness of His love, His forgiveness, His mercy, His grace and His transforming power in me.

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.”
Romans 1.16 NKJV

Amen. Indeed, we are called to serve as the hands and feet of our Savior. Thank you Nicola for also sharing a bit of history behind these itenerant preachers.

What a beautiful testimony Grace No.12 is of the imagination and service of past evangelists. We certainly could learn from their example to us today, that we may serve God and the gospel with fervour like they did. God bless you today sister 🙏

Did you know that the Wesley’s were banned from preaching in traditional churches?

I didn’t know that Tony. That closed door became an opportunity for the gospel message to be preached far and wide.

Wow, I’ve never seen such a thing, Nicola! It’s a horse-powered mobile home! I wonder if the Wesley brothers ever rode in this one? Can you imagine the conversations, while rolling along through the English countryside?! I bet it has all the comforts of home; everything but air conditioning. 😀

I love the history of these vehicles too David and thinking what stories and testimonies there would be of these travelling preachers. Imagine the conversations. 😊

Remember the words of St. Francis of Assissi. ” preach the gospel at all times and when necessary use words”.
