Running on nearly empty…

Morning everyone. It’s Friday morning here in the U.K and I’m just getting ready for work. It’s a busy time at work with lots of new instructions coming in (thanks be to God for His favour and blessings over our work) which is rapidly expanding. We have almost doubled the workforce in a few years and bought 2 new firms recently. One of which is in an entirely new location..we are definitely branching out.

However, with expansion comes difficulties. I had a few days off last week on holiday, but I seem to be working extra hard to catch up since coming back! I don’t think that’s the idea of a holiday, to feel more tired on retuning to work, but needs must at the moment.

Work is one of the main reasons, I haven’t had much spare time to blog. I’m running a bit on empty with all that is going on, but I know He who is my source will refresh and refill me. I’m just in one of those seasons at the moment. Refreshing will come.

Anyway, the beauty of blogging is that there is always encouragement to be found reading the other blogs I follow (thank you out there for all for the great posts) and I also found one in my archives that gave me some encouragement too. So, if like me today you also feel that you are running a bit on empty then I hope this encouragement to “adjust the overflow” will inspire you too.

The word the Lord gave me was Overflow.

Jesus is the living water who fills us and refreshes us. He overflows His grace & Holy Spirit into us. Unless water has an outflow though the water becomes stagnant. The water is meant to flow as it is living. Inflow and Outflow.

However, the picture the Lord showed me with this word Overflow was that some people saw their overflow pipe at the top of their tank. They felt that they had to have a full tank before they could begin to overflow to others but the Lord was saying- you don’t need to wait for your tank to fill- adjust your overflow pipe.

Set the overflow pipe to where you are at currently.

You may feel dry at the moment and that you only have a trickle in your tank but the Lord wants you to open the tap and let the trickle out – see your overflow pipe at the bottom of the tank.

Whatever level the water is in your tank then let it overflow.

The tank will surely fill as you ask the Lord to fill you and as you overflow then the more your tank will fill.

Bless you today my friends as the Lord overflows through you – it could just be a smile which makes the world of difference to someone who is lonely, it could be a short prayer for those in need. Have an overflowing day.

Amen! We can keep overflowing—even when we feel empty. Lower that overflow spigot!🚰

I believe it was Saint Francis who prayed, 🙏”It is in giving that we receive.” Even when we don’t feel like it, we may be someone’s best hope for the day.

    Sister, this will preach!

Congrats on your expansion. God Bless!

Haven’t had time to read a single blog for a few weeks now…what with the launch of something or other fairly soon!!!!!

But, so glad the Holy Spirit pulled me to read your post.

    Utterly brilliant.

And, yes. I totally agree that we need to see this differently because even just a tiny amount of us is far more than sufficient when combined with a willing heart, plus God!!

I am thrilled and thankful for God’s blessings on you, your family and business Nichola, may He continue to overflow through you sister!
This reminded me of the widows oil which continued to flow until she had filled every vessel she had, if her family or friends had found more pots the oil would have continued. May our Father God give us others for the oil of His blessing to flow into.

Thank you Alan. That is so encouraging and one of my favourite bible stories. I only just found your comment…see my post today, it was in the spam folder (now I know where to check)…

Excellent message! It’s good that work is going well. Growth does bring its on set of challenges. But I’d rather face those than the problems of limited workflow.
